This might be a candidate for most useless thread ever, but this has been bugging me for a few days now.

At the two Hawks games in Denver, I heard a lot of Hawks fans doing that annoying clappy chant that always makes me think of Red Wings fans.

"Let's go Blackhawks!" clap clap clap-clap-clap

Isn't that a Red Wings chant? Before this year I hadn't ever heard Hawks fans do that chant. Granted, I haven't been to a game in a long time...the last time I had a chance to attend a game was in the dark ages of the early 2000s when I could get a seat for $8.

So, is this a newly adopted chant or are there just too many bandwagon fans at games? Or maybe have the Hawk-fan transplants out here have been too influenced by the atrocious

"Let's go Avalanche!" clap clap clap-clap-clap

that the Avs fans try. Cramming 3 syllables where only 2 belong just cracks me up every time they try it.

There was a kid in front of me at the game and I tried to set him straight. The correct cheer is

"Let's go HAWKS!"

Fortunately the kid was a quick learner. :)

Anyway, who is the out-of-touch Hawks fan here. Me? Or the people who don't seem to mind sounding like Red Wings fans?

It's been "Let's go Hawks" for as long I've been attending games, but the drum that they use to get it going at the UC when it gets quiet is weak as all hell. They used to have a much better one back before I was born at Chicago Stadium.
 
I have to admit that I was a tad confused when I went to a Carolina game a shortly while back, and the fan base alternated between "Let's go Canes" and "Let's go Hurricanes" chants.... don't think I've noticed it at the UC, though I haven't been to a Hawks game in over a year.
 
The Hawks fans may have been influenced by the "Let's go Avalanche chant". It's always been "Let's go Hawks" at the UC. A lot of them may have been bandwagoners or haven't been to a game at the UC. It doesn't really matter; either way, it was pissing off Avalanche fans.
 
While we're at it, can we get HAWKS back on the scoreboard? And HAWKS WIN! on the LCD rings? Not a fan of everything saying BLACKHAWKS now.
 
Ugh I was in Detroit a few years back when the Hawks had won 9 in a row and some fans in the upper level started it

The 4-0 loss was deserved because of it
 
Thanks folks! I feel a little better...at least I can go about correcting the wrong fans with confidence now. ;)

I'm surprised how much that chant got under my skin, although I'm pretty sure if you tried that chant in the days of Chicago Stadium you might have gotten punched. It must be the bad influence of the opposition fans' chants combined with people who just have been away from Hawks home games for too long. Happily, by the end of the game most of the chants were "Let's go HAWKS," so maybe some people learned. :)

I think maybe some Avs fans started their chant, and maybe the Hawks fans changed avalanche to Hawks. Wishful thinking maybe...
 
I think there is a point where people start obsessing over the "little things" a bit much. And this might very well be that point...
 
I think there is a point where people start failing to realize that you can have fun with "little things" without really being obsessed. And this might very well be that point...
