Fabian Zetterlund traded to Ottawa

Rather just swap Perron and Zetterlund tbh. Giroux provided value in the top 6 still. Perron shouldn't switch his game regardless where he plays in the line up.
Ya that would work too.

Perron finally started showing a bit of a spark in the last few weeks. But you're right about Giroux, he still has some value. Either way I want Zetterlund to be given a chance. He is a bull of a man and I think he and Tkachuk on the same line would really disrupt the opposing defence.

I’d try Fabs on the top line, Timchuk has been quiet recently and could use a spark. Giroux can look flat for long stretches, be nice to see if Zetterlund has any Chemistry with Tim and Brady.

My guess is that after the last game we will be seeing Zetterlund in the top 6 a lot more. He was there for parts of last game. Lined beside Stü and Chucky.
The obvious candidate to be demoted out of the top 6, IMO, has been Giroux. But... that's a tough one for the coach to do, for obvious reasons.

I'm guessing he'll keep Zetterlund down on the 4th line until there's an injury or until one of Amadio or Perron really starts to play poorly.

What should change to get Zetterlund playing up in the lineup.

Playing him with the pets is not ideal for him but ... the top 9 is hard to change right now.
I am not touching the 3rd line.
I am not moving Perron or Giroux to the 4th line.

Again to me adding to the issue is the 4th line line mates.

Just a matter of time before he is on the first line while Brady takes a seat

There’s an element here of Zetterlund having to earn it and win the resoect of his teammates who have been fighting all season long to turn the franhicse around, to just walk in and expect too line minutes when you have no real NHL CV and you came from a bad hockey team - work hard and show your teammates you’re willing to be a good guy and do what it takes to fit in and from there the trust and TOI will grow.

Nothing to do with respect lol. Brady is injured and he would replace him

big brain move trading a 2nd for a sniper like this and putting him on the 4th line... does green think he is a direct replacement for ostapchuk or something?
Wasn’t surprising since team was on a winning streak, also since yesterday was only his first practice with the team, other than morning day skates.

Agreed, it's the entire 4th line that needs to be upgraded & IMO Zetterlund has shown absolutely nothing so far to expect that he would usurp those ahead of him. He played a few seconds on the PP, I have yet to see him play on the PK & they could use another. In fact, I think the other two on the 4th line have played better & he is the weakest link on the team & on the 4th line, Highmore plays on the PK, we have seen Gaudette play on the PP. I have yet to see anything of substance from this guy, Ostapchuk was a much better contributor than this guy is, so far anyway. I'd trade him for Jack Quinn RW, I've seen Jack Quinn score, I have yet to see this guy score or do anything of substance that is memorable in any way.

Zetterlund has gotten a few really good chances, it's hard to show alot when you're a shooter with no playmaker getting limited mins.

Ive seen a lot of people complaining about his game, I actually was pretty happy with him tbh, but figured I'd check out the stats sheet to see if maybe I was missing something.

In his limited time over the last 5 games at 5v5, he is:

4th best iHDCF on the team at 2.85/60, and 5th best iSCF/60
He's 1st on the team in hits/60. and 1st in rebounds created/60
And, he's 2nd in blocks/60.

You've posted this a couple times now and it just seems horribly misinformed. What exactly was Ostapchuk contributing better at that Zetterlund? It sure wasn't offence with his 4 total points in 44 games. Jack Quinn would be in the exact same boat if he was playing with Gaudette and Highmore. To say Zetterlund is the weakest link on a team with Travis Hamonic is crazy, let alone saying he's the weakest link on the 4th line

That's all most posters post about is offence, when we know Ostapchuk was very good & responsibly defensively, was good at faceoff, played C & LW, is a fast skater, hits all over the ice & will drop the gloves. I was comparing forwards not the defence. Now it's your turn tell me what you see I Zetterlund that he should be higher up in the lineup.

Over their careers zetterlund has better possession metrics. I know your penchant for fighting and height which is undoubtedly why you prefer ostapchuk over the player who is and has been objectively better to date.

We clearly view BETTER differently & as you as well as others constantly point out it seems to be just about pts with some of you. I look at a broader definition encompassing other aspects of the game that are required to win. For example, the guys that people are talking about demoting from the top nine are Giroux a guaranteed HOF, Perron who has a SC ring & very good NHL resume & Amadio another guy with a SC ring. All three are very good defensively & primarily responsible in helping this team go from close to the bottom of the league defensively to one of the best teams defensively reducing their goals against dramatically in one season.

This has nothing to do with size, but I also think they need more of that on the 4th line as well, players who can answer the bell when it's required, that's just the way the game is played whether people like it or not. Ostapchuk plays LW as well as Centre a position of need, he can take faceoffs, he hits, he can play the PK & yes he can drop the mitts, he has value which is why Grier wanted him. People have been telling me for over a decade they are taking fighting out of hockey & one of these days they will be right.

There's no way you can break up with the Greig-Pinto-Amadio line right now, but we really should be giving Zetterlund some more ice-time with the top 6.

If I were Green I'd give him some shifts in the top 6 in Perron's role to see if he can develop some chemistry with Cozens and Batherson.
Perron has been so good on that line. Don’t force it, PP2 for now and moved up at ES when it becomes necessary.

My second post wasn't even about points, but you choose to keep fixating on that. Having good possession stats also contributes to being a good defensive player and during his time in Ottawa, Ostapchuk simply was not good enough. He had flashes as many young players do but at the end of the day, even as much as you want to discount it, a single goal in over 40 games is the definition of not helping your team win. Agree to disagree though I suppose.

Still brought more than Zetterlund has shown.
