Fabian Zetterlund traded to Ottawa

Gaudette, Highmore and Hamonic
For some reason I always mistake Highmore for Halliday. Didn't realize Highmore was 29 and not a prospect. I agree about Gaudette too. He's a decent offensive player, but not someone I still fully trust in the D zone. Since Zetterlund has been added to that line I trust them more.

Something I'm looking to see from Staios is how he handles coaches favourites. If he lets go of Gaud and Hamonic while finding adequate replacements (which are all league min players probably) that'll be a huge green flag. Green is doing a great job, but he has his flaws as well. A GM that can act as a 'check' when coaches overplay certain players (especially in situations where there's alternatives available) is refreshing.

I f***ed up though, I changed the whole TV/Internet/mobility provider and didn't know but they don't have PVR even if owned the same company! I f***ed up big and will get it back once we move in a few months.
For a top 6 guy like you I'd be happy to share one of my several SN+ account logins. The catch is you gotta admit that our rebuild is WAAAY ahead of Montreal's...

There's 14 forwards in Ottawa with 200 minutes of 5 on 5 hockey

Gaudette is 1st in ga/60, 3rd in xGA/60
Highmore is 7th in ga/60 and 1st in xGA/60.

Added bonus. Gaudette is 1st in gf/60.

I'm not much for some of these advanced stats, I certainly don't live and die by them. But these two players are contributing in limited roles.

And don’t forget that epic Highmore-backcheck-to-knock-a-sure-goal-out-of-the-air-at-a-critical-time-of-the-game moment

Sorry lol I rationally can't use "WAAAY" but thankfully, Staios work since he took over has allowed them to stay ahead for now but you gotta admit that with Dorion we were free falling fast. Too bad the team was not sold a bit earlier. Some people have a hard time to differentiate what they would want vs the reality. I wanted Ottawa to be ahead for years and years to come but with how well it went for them vs the last 3 Dorion years in particular, it's impossible for me to not see that it got much closer (when it should not be)

Now that the win streak is over it's time to give Zetterlund a shot in a scoring role.

It's difficult to push anyone in the top 9 down to the 4th line and condemn them to playing beside Gaudette and Highmore, but Zetterlund has put in his time.

As great as Greig has been recently, I would move him down to the 4th line center role, as Gaudette clearly isn't a centerman due to his lack of speed and overall game, and there's no one else on the current roster that can play up the middle.

Would continue to give him plenty of special teams ice-time to make up for playing on the 4th line at even strength.

Tkachuk - Stutzle - Giroux
Perron - Cozens - Batherson
Zetterlund - Pinto - Amadio
Highmore - Greig - Gaudette

I'd like to see Zetterlund up in the lineup, but no way does Green push Greig down. 3rd line is playing too well to push anyone down, and Perron is playing well on the 2nd. Really hoping Zetterlund can get more than 10 minutes in a game though, even if its more special teams.

With Greig playing as much as hes been lately, I doubt Green moves him down to the 4th. That being said, its hard to pick who else would be moved down. I think Amadio would make the most sense long term, but hes been money lately so that's another tough one. Brady is clearly hurt, maybe he'll sit a game and we can see it more organically?

I would be up for it if we replace the wingers on the 4th line with more size and physicality ,, Reinhardt and MacEwen for example.
Greig needs players to work with to make that 4th line more than it is now.. I don't think Zetterlund would fill Greig's skates in a 3rd line , checking role though. If we are going reduce the 3rd line we should strengthen the 4th line..

If you can get Green the message or get Staios/Bowness to do the transactions and leave Green no opions.

I think it's important to put Greig down the middle to change the dynamics of that 4th line entirely. Right now it's full of fringe NHLers barely holding on for dear life except Zetter. They always get outplayed. Something must change, and that's with Greig down the middle.

Zetterlund-Pinto-Amadio
Cousins-Greig-MacEwen (could be annoying AFFFF to play against and very strong playoff trio).

Or keep Zetter with Greig and Cousins moves up because he was effective with Pinto and Amadio. Zetterlund gets a significantly better C to play with and they all defensively responsible.

I suspect the main reason Highmore stays in the lineup is he's a left-shot guy that Green trusts on the second penalty kill unit. They don't have a ton of left-shot options to begin with, after Greig, and Highmore seems to have won the job over Reinhardt.

Its a plus for Highmore; but not convinced he couldn't be replaced.. I think Cousins should replace him when he's back

He's playing too much actually. Greig should not be leading this team in ice time for forwards.

Have him lock down the 4th line C role and continue to let him play lots of special teams minutes. It's not like he'll be hurting for ice time.

Amadio could make sense too but he's been even better than Greig lately and he's a winger. Gaudette can't play center at this level and should be moved back to RW.

I'd get rid of the entire 4th line, why mess with the top 3 lines when they have been playing pretty well. IMO we need more size & toughness on that 4th line with guys who can play. Not sure if they can afford it this summer, but if Crouse is available he would be a good 4th line LW add.

Crouse - Halliday - MacEwan - could work

Obviously he's far from their best player, but is Greig leading the team in ice time a problem that actually needs fixing if he's playing well in the roles he's been given?

I'm not breaking up an extremely effective 3rd line to fix the 4th line, which barely needs to play at five-on-five, and I'm definitely not doing it to right-size Greig's minutes if he's playing well.

Right now, there just isn't an obvious place to put Zetterlund higher-up in the lineup, although it would be nice to see him get shifts in the top nine here and there (e.g. a shift in Perron's spot, a shift in Giroux's spot, a shift in Greig's spot) when the situation allows for it.

100%. Couldn't agree more! Can they jettison Gaudette if MacEwan is ready to return? Before the playoffs I'd like to see:

Tkachuk - Stützle - Zetterlund
Giroux/Perron - Cozens - Batherson
Giroux/Greig - Pinto - Amadio
Cousins - Greig/Pinto/Cozens - MacEwan

Giroux could even center that 4th line - that would be a group that could give the opposition fits! Heavy forecheck with some skill to finish.
