Fabian Zetterlund traded to Ottawa

I feel like this is the guy they want to move up to play top6 RW next year. Fill out the 4th via FA, leave L2 and L3 intact. Very much a bridge deal incoming.
We are definitely going to have more room next year, cap wise and also roster wise. I am concerned that we won't be able to re-sign Giroux. I hope we do. However, Giroux is going to need to move down in the line up if this season is any indication of his drop off. We will also likely change our third and fourth line slightly. These changes will mean more room in the top-6. Meaning Zetterlund will spend a lot more time there.

No it's not. What I am seeing from Highmore & Gaudette is way better than anything I have yet seen from Zetterlund, he has not done a single thing that is in anyway even slightly impressive & I've been calling to replace the other two for a while. What exactly were people impressed with, with this guy?, he's completely invisible since he arrived, Ostapchuk was much more noticeable & Ott needs a 4th line C. I'm not seeing it.
Ostapchuk showed nothing through 40 games.... but he's still a year or two away from the show, so it makes sense. Actually, it was pretty clear to me that he was a negative out there.

Zetterlund has had two points stolen off the PP IMO. The Perron goal against DET and Giroux's goal against TOR the statskeepers got ticky-tacky about possession change when Zetterlund made some great plays downlow to keep it in Sens hands.

I think it's fair to admit that unless you are Stutzle, you aren't getting much from Gaudette, and you most certainly are getting nothing out of Highmore, so Zetterlund is in a tough place to produce offensively. Zetterlund isn't as good as those two defensively, which makes sense as that's all Gaudette and Highmore are really good for; however, this is probably a hallmark of great coaching by Green IMO, getting Zetterlund to focus on the expectations he faces defensively before he is elevated in the lineup.

So, for now, given that he is playing on a new team on the 4th line with replacement-level players, I am happy to give Zetterlund more time to establish himself. I've otherwise liked what I have seen as far as his play down low and around the net.

I can’t believe people are freaking out because we haven’t lost a game since the deadline with our new acquisitions playing in every game.

What is more exciting than Zetterlund is the fact that we have 10 forwards playing right now that we want to see on the ice.

I’d like to see what he can do with better players, I said as much a week ago, but unless someone can give me a credible lineup that involves one of the other nine dropping to the fourth right now, you pretty much have to keep rolling.
this.

Anyone saying that Zetterlund cares about warm weather versus the variance in Ottawa, simply doesn't understand Swedes. Swedes love cool weather and they love Christmas. Ottawa is like heaven for Swedes.

Why is Travis trying to kill this guy? When Sens traded for him, he had more 5v5 points than all sens except for Stutzle.
So far he has gotten 10, 9, 9, and 8 minutes of playtime.
He'd get more time if our other 4th line players were any good. I really wanted us to go for a 4th line C at the deadline as well, but we didn't.

Cousins - someone who is actually good - Zetterlund could have played 12-14 min a night and given the top 9 a rest down the stretch.

I'd love to pickup Pageau at 50% next year, or at the deadline.

And how many posts or even hockey periods do you think I have read/watched recently? Frankly, very little since the deadline. I haven't even watched a full hockey period. I thought this was going to be a big acquisition and Zetterlund was going to be used as a Top-9 or even as a Top-6 player. THAT IS ALL.

I am just not as much of a hardcore NHL fan as before, these 7 years of apathy changed things for me so if/when I don't have the time, I'm simply going to skip. That is why I had no idea why Zetterlund hasn't been more important to the team since that's what I was expecting
Well, I'd say now is about the right time to dust off that PVR again and start obsessing again. The ascent toward contention awaits you!

Ottawa isn't heaven to anyone, let's be honest.

Sweden is beautiful, Stockholm's coldest month is January with an average of -3 degrees Celsius. Ottawa is the city that fun forgot and is, on average, -14 degrees Celsius in January.

I get lines are gelling right now, but there’s no way Zetterlund his agent are happy with him getting less ice time than Matthew f***ing Highmore in a contract year.
Guess they should have signed the long term deal with SJ for reasonable money. Now they can try to get it from Ottawa or from arbitration.

SJ probably didn't want to pay top line money for a guy who can't generate his own offense.

So is he playing RW in Ottawa but in SJ was he strictly a LW who shoots right?

If he’s playing a new position then he has a lot to learn from a very good coaching staff. They might be coaching him up to move into Giroux’s roll next season.

No he plays both. LW is his natural being a right handed shooter too, but he is very effective in both.

Yeah if we try and low ball him, especially if he feels we artificially deflated his value, he's going to go to arbitration, probably get 3+ mil x 1-2 y and just walk. Don't think the team would do that though, they clearly see something in the guy.

Assuming we finish the year strong, I could see them bridge him at 2.5M x 1-2 years and then reassess if he fits in medium-long term plans, resign him on a 5x5 or something if he's actually a middle-6 guy.

Seems like a good plan, both camps will probably want a 1 year bridge and then next season is where they find out how much he is worth long term. Actually, might be a good thing compared to Dorion throwing out money and NMCs right away. It kinda delays the payday for him but he'll probably still get over 3 M$ on a one year deal.

I f***ed up though, I changed the whole TV/Internet/mobility provider and didn't know but they don't have PVR even if owned the same company! I f***ed up big and will get it back once we move in a few months.

There's no way you can break up with the Greig-Pinto-Amadio line right now, but we really should be giving Zetterlund some more ice-time with the top 6.

If I were Green I'd give him some shifts in the top 6 in Perron's role to see if he can develop some chemistry with Cozens and Batherson.

Highmore playing more than Zetterlund is absolutely unacceptable.

Green's favoritism for his former Canucks needs to be addressed.

He can't help himself, to the detriment of the team, so Staios needs to get rid of all 3 of Gaudette, Highmore and Hamonic this off-season.

Hamonics contract expires after this season. It would be a disservice to td he fans to give him a new one with the team.

Have I replied to you yet? I am from Fort McMurray, born and raised. The average temperature there during the winter is about -15.4°c. Unless one is doing a lot of outdoor activities, Fort McMurray is extremely boring as a child and even as an adult. Ottawa would likely be like heaven for me if I lived there, although I am not Swedish. Sweden is not always warm on average, not every part of Sweden at least. They are well known as a powerful nordic skiing country, with a strong XC team, especially on the woman's side. 60% of the Swedish population is also Christian. A lot of them love Christmas. I feel like Ottawa offers a lot, in terms of activities and culture. My guess is that most Swedes, such as Ullmark would love Ottawa.

No doubt Ottawa has a lot to offer. Getting paid millions to play in the NHL wouldn't hurt either.
