Player Discussion Fabian Lysell

It continues to be really f***ing weird to me that some people here seem to see Lysell going home to see his family in the offseason as some character flaw, or proof that he isn't working hard enough. Believe it or not they do actually have gyms in the country of Sweden, and he is allowed to use them. The bear tracks video the bruins did with him actually show him busting his ass with his personal trainer over there.

Mom's home cooking should make going home an obvious choice for any early 20 something year old.

Anyone who thinks Lysell hasn’t been busting his ass and added muscle would be better off spending their time reading behavioral therapy books

The dude’s biggest knock was size and strength. He was 158 pounds leading up to the draft. He’s pushing 180 now. If he didn’t work his ass off he’d be flattened every game and would t have been able to push to the net on the drives he’s been running the past few games.

My current biggest sadness of the bruins not making it this year was that we won’t get to see Lysell continue to play. But I’m pumped to see him down in Providence again.

Going down the rabbit hole it’s nuts to thing Lysell was considered a top 5 pick for a bit, and when he started to fall, fanbases were licking their chops at the prospect he would fall to them, and we got him.

He won’t become Pasta but I think he’ll play out to become a reliable 25 goals 45 assists kinda guy eventually, just needs to keep going

I’m the biggest Lysell defender on the board and I don’t think he’s going to be close to a reliable 70 point wing lol.

Beecher and Lysell have nothing to do with each other, Beecher is playing 4th line, and Lysell is not going to play 4th line.
So your saying the Bruins don't have any other players who can fill in Beecher spot on the 4th line?
its a roster spot he's taking up, when there's more talented guys with more potential that have not been playing.

where did that come from, Lysell is here to hopefully be an offensive force, a different role, than what you expect from a 4th liner. Also, can you point out to me where I said Beecher is not replaceable.

Sorry if it sound harsh :)

By you saying "Beecher and Lysell have nothing to do with each other, Beecher is playing 4th line, and Lysell is not going to play 4th line."

They actually do if Beecher taking up a roster spot that is holding a more skilled player(lysell) from playing on the top 3 lines, when the Bruins have more than enough players on their team who can fill Beecher role.

So im saying replace Beecher with a more skilled player with a higher ceiling one, and let one of the other muckers grinders who are already in Boston play Beechers role.

That's all I was saying

He had a great back check then pass into transition in this game too. Ever since the first Devils game I think he’s been one of their better forwards. A lot of positive shifts.

I like where it’s trending. Hopefully he has a productive post season in Providence and can carry that momentum into the off season. Huge summer for him.

Maybe a bullish statement but I think after this stretch, I think he probably has a roster spot to lose next year maybe at RW3.

Oh I don’t see it as a character issue at all. I think the bruins probably have better staff to train him in the offseason that’s all. Seems like a nice hard working young man to me.

It’s nice to see lysell at the highest level. He is clearly ready for the nhl. I’m pretty sure he will be on the bruins opening night roster next season.

Pretty sure he is a top six player at some point in his career. Next year he might be a third line player.

His skating is way too good not to be an nhl player. Would love to see him develop into a nice penalty killer. His speed would be an excellent asset on the pk.

Time will tell.

You might be right, training around here can be more beneficial, you have the staff taht will be working with all the time and they get familiar with you, and you with them. Plus, many of his teammates work out offseason together and he might get a better feel of the atmosphere, what is required, better all around feel of what it takes to be successful in this league. I don't think anyone is saying the kid should not go home and visit his family a bit, but this is his profession now, you must do what it takes to get better.

How many players stay around to train all offseason? Which prospects stayed around and which ones went home?

Lysell got better every game imo.

Created a lot of chances for himself and others with his speed. Didn't notice his line getting hemmed in their zone any more than every other line Sacco was rolling out.

Sure, he's small, took some big hits but really never got crushed as hard as Poitras did. Felt like Poitras was gonna break every time he took a monster hit.

Hopefully he can build off this for next season. Was nice seeing guys who can play with the puck and make plays over guys blindly tossing it to the net with no one there and hoping for the best.

Agree with most of this. My only complaint is I wish we got more of a look sooner. He looked like this after 10 games.. what would he have looked like after 20-25 games? It’s hard to know what he is with what we saw and there’s no reason we shouldn’t have more of a picture.

I want to give him a roster spot, but it’s too little of a sample size. All we can do at this point is hope he has a productive AHL playoffs and stays healthy throughout. The largest thing that has made his development a roller coaster are the injuries he’s taken.. like the concussion late last year.
