Player Discussion Fabian Lysell

Lysell looked dynamic out there. He won't be 23 until 2026. I think it's nuts to give up on this kid so soon. Let's see if he can build on these games and what he does this off-season to prepare to win a spot out of camp.
Rather send Beecher packing then Lysell.Like you said ,he is only 23.Give him time and it will get better .

No report on Lysell's game last night is complete until Mark Divver tweets about it.
Do you think that Lysell going back to Sweden for the summer a couple of years ago showed up in his play in this game? Feel like if he had stayed in Boston back then he would have made a couple more plays.

Lysell looked more like the player I watched and got excited about when he was younger and initially drafted, but that was his best game so far, lets temper it a bit until we see more consistency. I am anxious also to see what he looks like coming into camp this year and how he spent his offseason.

Best game I have seen from him since his first camp with Boston. Still don’t want to get too high or too low yet. Eventually it has to translate to points (which he did get one) cause he is not really suited for third/fourth line duty. He isn’t really good defensively and is not too great on the boards. It’s the middle of the ice with speed is where he is most effective.

Wahlstrom is only two years older. Since going to Providence, Wahlstrom has scored SEVEN goals and 11 pts in 16 games. Wahlstrom has a chance to score as many goals in Providence in 20 games as Lysell did in 51 games. And I submit to you that Lysell is playing worse in Boston that Wahlstrom did on many a night.

But hey.

I really appreciate these being made because when you miss a game, you really miss a lot of analyzing the new guys

I don't know anyone can watch Lysell's game against the devils and honestly say he's going to bust. At 22, there's a lot of room for growth and he looked great against NJ

His style really reminds me of Marner, and he added some puck houndery to his game the other night and that is what really made the difference. Smart shot and pass selection, getting to positions where the puck would be a second before, lifting sticks, picking up speed, getting back into a great position to rush the puck the other way. All qualities this team and any good NHL forward needs. Im excited for him

Your submission has been received.

Wahlstrom was playing in the NHL with some pretty good Islander teams before Lysell was even drafted.

Wahlstrom has low hockey IQ and is somewhat listless. Lysell's hockey IQ is high. If he puts his drive together with his IQ and skills he'll be a mainstay before long

Would like to see him put on 10 pounds of muscle this off season and work on battle drills with Bergeron (if he's willing) and co over the summer
