I'll admit upfront there's some pessimistic part of me that's dreading that Waddell and Evason will also discover some sort of Mysterious Whatever about Fabbro such that he also gets doghoused up here. I'm hoping that's not the case, but if it does happen, then at least we'll know it wasn't just Brunette.

Well, we did trade for Philippe Myers once upon a time, and then found out he couldn't skate and needed to learn how to hold a hockey stick.

So we're not really batting 1.000 here. :sarcasm:

He went east.
He went to a team that will play him and let him earn a paycheck.
After the way he got shit on here, he was gone next summer anyway.
But this is still batshit stupid.

I would assume Trotz shopped him, but im guessing any team with the cap space to take him probably knew he'd be waived soon anyway

I’m not sure if this would be the nightmare we are expecting, Columbus can’t trade Provorov and they put him on waivers. Nashville gets first priority and pick him up. so the Preds, essentially trade a right handed one yr contract player for a left-handed one year contract player. But his contract is larger than Fabbro.’s. Nightmare I know.

Near where sand and waves meet.
Have we still not really had any comment or corresponding move? We waived a useful player that was easily claimed just for...like, vibes then?

Maybe tomorrow we'll hear something from the team. It's a Sunday and travel day as the team starts the road trip ... that coupled with our total lack of real beat coverage isn't a recipe for quick comments.

The claim just cleared 3 hours ago. We probably won’t find out about any follow up move if there is one for a few days.
I didn't see the pre-game last night to know if they mentioned it, but I would have expected they already push some sort of narrative about the move, whether expecting he would be claimed or not. 26 y/o defensemen on $2.5M contacts that have been on the NHL squad their whole professional career usually don't just get waived for no reason.

Provorov has actually been getting minutes so it's much more probable he'd get a return. I wouldn't expect him to go to Nashville unless Trotz spends a 1st or something. (Which I don't think he should do.)

And giving saros that ridiculous contract that he hasn't earned!
From 2019-2020 thru now Saros has the 4th most wins, 4th best save percentage, 4th most shutouts ... his cap hit starting next season is 9th highest among signed goalies .... will drop to 10th after Igor signs. One could argue about term but given current price of starting goalies the cap hit isn't out of line.

There was some small blurb—could be total conjecture by the writer—in the Tennesseean that they were expecting Trotz to start making moves plural.

That's it. That's all I got.

Does "for the chuckles" count as a reason?

Hopefully Fabbro goes on to have a successful and lengthy career. :handclap:

Now is it Stastney coming back, or something like Blankenburg coming up, or other?

One thing now the team has Cap room to carry 23 players even if the Johansen contract comes back on the books. Or… there’s more like $6M to spend if it doesn’t and they were going to double down chasing a veteran 2C like Kadri…

The Johansen contract is officially off the books for us now? I missed that. For real?

If Blankenburg comes up and is able to play like I remember, then this would make for a wonderful little exchange. But that would require far more optimism than I presently have available...
