The pricing is just too high. Tickets to even the USGP in Austin used to be significantly cheaper pre Netflix. Many people are priced out even if they are still interested despite the Redbull dominance.

Formula Netflix has become more of a coachella with cars than a serious racing series.

Indycar , IMSA , even NASCAR is a better spectacle and racing experience

Been to 3 Indycar races so far this year and its so much better than f1

Indycar has much more competitive racing than F1. While the engineering that goes into the cars is quite incredible in F1. It has had to constantly deal with 1 team dominance through most of its history.

NASCAR was such a big deal then. Jeff Gordon and Earnhardt Sr. where everywhere.

IndyCar is not that great, and why would you guys support anything with Tony George's fingerprints on it?

Tickets are selling no problem. What you got was ads for was the last round of tickets to be released (they have staggered the release of tickets for sale). The last release just happened on Friday

Do you support SAFER Barriers? That has TG's fingerprints on them. What about the USGP at IMS, which was way better than Austin- TG's fingerprints.

Indycar is the best racing on the planet with a diverse schedule of tracks anchored by the greatest race in the world. The quality of drivers is comparable with F1 as well, but you actually get to see them race and not drone around fighting for 2nd place or a points finish.

The split happened when I was in 2nd grade and has been over for almost half of my life , Tony George is only involved in co-ownership of one team, time to move on with your Split Era politics

I'm not so sure- Can't see how this race will last more than a few years. I predict a much bigger drop off than Miami, which was sparsely attended on Friday and Saturday (look at the stands for Practice and Qualifying).

Tony George sold the series (and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway) to Roger Penske three and a half years ago.

Exactly. The split lasted 12 years and ended 15 years ago. And it's not like CART was going to last anyway. It collapsed under its own weight and mismanagement after only 7 years. The five-year existence of the Champ Car World Series was just a trio of stubborn team owners delaying the inevitable to the detriment of the sport.

We rile about how Bettman, Goodale, Stein, Manfred sometimes mismanage their league/sport, but they're all absolute top-tier managers/commissionner/CEO's (whatever) compared to Stefano Domenicalli.

Bellagio fountain trees begin to come down for November’s F1 Las Vegas race

The longstanding rows of trees, shading hundreds of thousands of visitors annually who view the iconic water show on the Bellagio Fountain, are coming down, with most not coming back.

Bellagio removing trees along Las Vegas Boulevard. Some trees will be relocated for the race and replanted. Others permanently removed with rhe wood being chipped and used at regional parks.

Ellis Island was one of my favorites when I lived in Vegas. Great steak special, good BBQ, cheap beer.

Basically the Village Pub in casino form, karaoke in the lounge.

Two weeks until race. County commissioner thinks it'll take 2 years to understand if the investment and disruptions are worth it to the community.

Workers inside the circuit still haven't been told how they are getting to work during the closures.

I'm not so sure- Can't see how this race will last more than a few years. I predict a much bigger drop off than Miami, which was sparsely attended on Friday and Saturday (look at the stands for Practice and Qualifying).

NASCAR first implemented safer barriers after Earnhardt Sr’s death.
Indy car is good, but the field gets bunched up to often due to yellow flags, F1 is the epitome of the sport, and has the better drivers overall.
I’ve attended all 3, multiple times, and choose F1 series.

SAFER barriers were developed by Indycar/ IMS and were installed at IMS before becoming ubiquitous at US based ovals

you can google this- Indycar has always been at the forefront of paradigm shifting safety innovation

Indycar is a superior product to F1- the only way one would say otherwise is that you cling to the false sense of prestige F1 fandom affords

Indycar is a more pure and exhilarating racing spectacle.

I’d put Josef Newgarden, Palou, Dixon, Will Power, up against the best F1 has to offer.

Don’t forget, Alonso - arguably the greatest F1 talent of the past 20 years not named Verstappen was bumped out of the 2019 Indy 500

That’s fine, we’ll disagree, I attend races of different disciplines each year, including motocross,
I prefer F1, but I tape all 3 every weekend.

Just nice seeing another race fan.

Some venues have their own viewing areas (e.g., Ellis Island) and may have less expensive access.


The Venetian has emptied their exterior canals (water being processed and returned to Lake Mead, not going down the (storm) drain, to build viewing stands.

I was hearing the city/county is planning locals watch parties "for free" around the valley. (I'll watch from the comfort of my couch, tyvm)
 
Culinary union, which provides food service for most of the casino/resorts in the valley has been without a contract for months (like since June). (Red Rock/Station casinos are non-union.) MGM, Caesars, Bally's among those with union workers.

They authorized a strike starting this weekend (the week before the race).

Issues include workload (post pandemic, fewer workers), higher wages requested, etc.
