He played with Chernyshov a few years back. Not sure if they were good friends or anything to increase his chance of coming over. Some Sharks reporter should perhaps ask about this. That could be a pretty cool story . Anyone know how much ice time and role he's getting in the KHL? Improved skating, shot and especially defense?

Only Justin Braun, Jason Demers, Colin Blackwell, and to a lesser extent Joakim Ryan.

A few more if you want to count cups of coffee.
when i wrote roster i meant long term contributor that stayed long term with team. it was pretty much a throwaway comment. didn't expect a response over this and major reason i stopped posting for a long time. it would be more helpful if someone who knows about YR chimes in instead of taking topic off thread. I'll edit so it doesn't get sidetracked by sharks fans listing chiming in with more 7th round picks.

I don't think he meant it the way you interpreted it, as a "gotcha." If he did, I agree not that helpful. Of those he listed, only Braun and Demers were long term contributors and those were lucky or incredible diamonds in the rough that made an otherwise mediocre 10 years of drafting look amazing, alongside Vlasic and Pavs.

I would be ecstatic if YR ever sees a game in teal. Tiny glimmer of hope that the pro Russian pipeline and his (tenuous?) connection with Chernyshov gives us a chance to make it happen.
