Even if this player was born in early 2007 and was a 2025 draft pick, such a brisk start to the season would not have gone unnoticed. However, formally he, and not his teammate Fyodorov, leads the league's scorers with 4 points among the 2026 draft prospects. Moreover, he shares first place among all the league players (first MHL goal).
The player is fast, but not tall.
Did anyone watch him last year in America?
And a question for experts in the twists and turns of relations between the Russian and Kazakhstan hockey federations: is Yan going to represent Russia or Kazakhstan on the international arena?

He tries to keep up with his more famous teammate Fyodorov in points scored in the MHL. At the moment, he is even ahead of him! Today 0+2. One of the assists (to Fyodorov).

Melnikov continues to pull away from Fyodorov in the Chaika team scorers' race, as well as in the race for the best statistical player among 2026 dtaft eligible players.
Today's goal.
In the overall league standings, Melnikov is already in the top 5, which is an amazing result for a player who will be drafted only in a year.

Anyone know what is up with the MHL website? It is impossible for me to find Chaika in the "scoring leaders by team". All other teams are listed in the dropdown. Any workaround? Hmmz

The workaround is this: if you click on any match of the Chaika team, and then click "team players", then the presented team roster will display not the player statistics for this match, but the full team statistics for the entire championship. For example, here is Chaika's last game: https://engmhl.khl.ru/game/1290/892807/teams/ Here you can see that the team leader is Melnikov with 7 points, followed by Laptev (also 26 draft eligible (!)) and Fyodorov with 5 points. The rest of the players scored no more than two points.
