I think this guy will be picked a lot higher than most think. Big center with good skating, playmaking, and hockey sense. I think @Erikfromfin compared him to Samu Salminen. I think thats a good comparison, but this guy skates better than Salminen, and will probably go about a round higher because of it.
Topi will make his Liiga debut tonight against Jukurit.
Got to see Topi play for both Tappara and Tappara U20 so I feel like giving him a bump here.
What he lacks in high-end skill is balanced by a great motor and drive to be apart of the game. For a center he has suitable size at 6'1" 176, still 17 until May.
It is clear his skills are great at the U20 level, but relatively speaking not that "elite". Didn't look out of place in a 4th line checking role in Liiga action, on a top team in the league. I would say the awareness looked good at both levels for 200 ft of the ice. That impressed me more then his technical skills. Not lacking but nothing superb, he's not that much of a scoring threat, good drives to the middle/net and generates offense that way, though the playmaking is pretty good already and I think it will get better thanks to his IQ (pro IQ for sure).
I think middle six center upside is warranted, most likely a good third line center here with the right development tbh.
Early third round would be a great place to get a guy like this, but I could see second round if a team likes the pick.

I've been impressed with his ability to carry the puck into the zone at the U18s, his faceoffs have been clean, and his speed is decent. He has made a few smart plays like kicking the puck on to his teammate, or simple passes/rims around that I liked. Agree that he doesn't seem to have a super high skill level. Other parts of his game seem projectable though.
Very good center. Future NHLer for sure. Big strong guy moves well enough and fine hands. Overall reliable good two way guy could develope to something similiar to Panthers Eetu Luostarinen

Played 20 or so games in the regular season for Liiga champions Tappara bit was with the club's U20 team in the playoffs.
I don't believe he was selected in the CHL Import Draft last year.
Any likelihood he is taken next month or is he staying in Finland?

Likely staying in Finland since Tappara is losing most of their team. Should get a regular spot next season.

He's scored 3 goals since being drafted as a fwd.
Even for a center who looks to be more of a defensive specialist, that's not good at all.
Ooof... Accused of rape when was underaged. He is sidelined from team activities for now.

There would have been nothing to find if the player and/or agent never disclosed the allegation which is clearly the case otherwise the entire hockey community would have known.

The team he plays for says they only found out about this a few days ago. Assuming that's true, I don't know how you throw any blame for the Flames about this.
Accused or convicted? No need to pick a side until the case is over.

Now 19-year-old Rönni is accused of rape in Helsinki in the summer of 2021. The player was a minor at the time of the incident. The documents of the case have been ordered to be kept secret.
Tuesday, March 12 is also the closing day of the regular season of the SM league.
Tappara informed about it on Thursday. According to Tappara, Rönni himself had told the club about the criminal charge. The player said that he will remain aside from the team's activities for the time being and that he will focus on handling the matter.
– We take the suspected crime seriously, but we are waiting for the court hearing and will evaluate the player's status afterwards. This is also about labor rights, Tamhockey Oy CEO Mika Aro said in the press release.
