F Simon Knak - Portland Winterhawks, WHL (2021, 179th, NSH)

Slovakia’ve already played against Stutzle, Peterka, Byfield or Cozens at this tournament. But the most dangerous player we had to face it so far, was this guy imho. His performance impressed me a lot. I still don’t get it how he could pass undrafted.

He was on a loaded Winterhawks team last year wich probably inflated his stats. He has sometimes also stretches of the season where he cant reach his A-game and seems a bit invisible. He hasnt really any flaws in his game but lacks a standout skill that sets him appart from other prospects outside of his really good hands. All in all i still think he has the makings of a solid bottom 6 winger in the NHL if he continues to develop.

Yeah, and he had nobody to play with in both games. He was outstanding vs Slovakia...not so much vs Finnland. But hard to fault him if he has to do everything alone.

Simon Knak is off to a hot start for Portland, with 5 goals in 4 games so far including 2 shorthanded. I think his skill set of being a well rounded forward hands and skating wise while also showing an aptitude for defensive zone play at 5v5 and shorthand should lead to opportunities in a bottom 6 role in the NHL. He has definitely taken advantage of the delayed start to the WHL season and learning from playing against men to improve his play at the junior level and should not be skipped over this time in the draft.

Up to 8 goals, 15 points in 13 games now. I’ve really liked him this season, would love to have him on my junior team. Is he an NHL prospect? Only time will tell. His skill level isn’t high enough, but with his size, speed and work ethic, I think he has a shot at becoming a bottom-six guy.

liked him as a late rounder last year, think he'll be picked this year for sure.

Great value for a sixth round pick. He shouldnt have been left on the shelf last year and has only improved since. With a bit of luck he could turn into a third line winger that can play PK and chip in some scoring as well.
