I have heard that he is turning heads in Lithuania and they hope to have their first drafted NHLer since 1996.14-year-old Lithuanian forward playing hockey in Switzerland - He put up some impressive totals for his U17 team along with fellow Lithuanian teammate Dovydas Jukna. Also played for Lithuania's U18 team and tied for the team lead in scoring, as a 14-year-old. Impressive stuff for the kid. It'll be interesting to see how things transpire going forward for the kid.

1,4 PPG in the Swiss U20 so far, leading his age group quite comfortably and in the top-10 overall. With a good frame and 2-way game, I'd say he is on a mid-round pick trajectory. Turns 17 in 3 weeks.

Is on loan from Servette to SL Visp and played his first pro game on Tuesday. Will be interesting to see how he does playing vs men.

Swiss League legend Garry Nunn is injured (I assume) and Simas is supposed to be the replacement but probably the placeholder would be a more apt description at this point. In any case, he got Nunn's spot on the first line next to the team's leading scorer Jacob Nilsson so he has every opportunity to succeed there although obviously, it's a big jump from U20.

Garry Nunn is out for the foreseeable future. Might not play again until February with his broken hand. Big shoes to fill but we'll see what Ignatavicius can do with this opportunity. Tonight is game 2 for him away vs Thurgau.

So it on the lineup sheet it looked better than it actually is. In reality, he played 14 minutes in both games combined. Hopefully, he can establish himself otherwise this loan spell will be a bit of a waste.

He was never gonna play more, was always gonna get eased in. He only just turned 17. These are his first games in pro hockey, against men. With a new team, new teammates, new coaches.

Even Mason McTavish and Brennan Othmann started with limited ice time as 13th forwards and on the 4th line when they played for SL Olten. And they were a few months older than Simas.

I think he's gonna get more ice time down the road. Garry Nunn is gonna be out a while...this isn't a sprint. But even if Ignatavicius doesn't get more ice time this is still an important time for him. Invaluable experience playing vs men. It's not his draft season so it's really just about the experience and if him or Servette feel like he needs more ice time they can always give him additional games with Servette's U20 elite team.

Well with all due respect, toying with Croatian defense is not a tall task

Regarding the drafting part, he seems to be at least at a pretty stable mid-round pick trajectory. He has no major knocks - has a nice frame, plays defense, high compete level. Maybe @Hinterland can provide a more accurate comparison offensive stats-wise.

Back to the juniors. Dare I say this loan spell was a bit of a waste but of course, it didn't hurt any either. Also hopefully, it motivates him to push hard in terms of the reality check between junior and meaningful games even at the SL level.

Yeah. Visp signed Adam Brodecki who has played in Europe's top leagues for 10 years.

I expected them to keep Ignatavius for the duration of Nunn's injury but I guess Visp just has too much money to spend. The problem is that you can only ice two imports at SL level.

I agree it's still a good experience. Ideally a bit longer but it is what it is. He's gonna get another chance somewhere sooner or later.
