Might be another one of those examples of Edmonton not knowing how to ice a complete team and just focus on scoring.

Obviously both guys have a long ways to go, but it seems like they gave up a potential two-way character center for yet another one dimensional tiny winger.

Was 'Ike' the MVP of that tourney by any chance?

He was the MVP of a better league last year at the same age. At age 20 O’Reilly better be dummying 17 year olds, but he barely did that and needed a healthy “gud Canadian boy” bump to even win any individual awards. Shame the OHL had to debase itself by giving someone with 71 points its MOP trophy, in five years people are going to be wondering who he bribed to make that happen.

What a fleece job!

SOR looks like a Ryan Kesler clone. Playoff gamer to boot!

Meanwhile I've never been a fan of Howard.... Put aside his entitled attitutde, I think his skating is way below NHL level.

SOR is legit! Can honestly see him being the "shutdown" role player for Team Canada in future Olympics.

Much like his his future teammate, Anthony Cirreli except SOR is way more skilled as well.

He’s really not. At the same age Kesler was in the NHL. O’Reilly couldn’t even improve his year over year point output in the O.

So entitled he spent most of the year in the A- again, a better league than where SOR was- and was over a PPG.

He never makes a TC again outside a World Championships in a year Tampa is out early.

Cirelli crushed O’Reilly’s playoff production at the same age and has never cracked 60 in the NHL.

2024 is looking like a strong strong draft.

SOR most definitely goes top 15 in a re-draft today. So clutch. London Knights factory just continues to produce.

A lot of this is incorrect/dishonest.
1. O'Reilly just turned 20 two months ago and this would be considered his 19 year old season so he is not an overager and would even be elligible to play in the OHL again next year if he wanted. Also most players in the OHL are 18 to 19, not 17.
2. Howard was not the same age as O'Reilly is now the year he won the Hobey. Howard had 36pts in 36 games his 19 year old season. They actually have the same birthday and are exactly 2 years apart.
3. Kesler barely made the cutoff to be elligible for the 03' draft (by 15 days) so he was 19 his entire first season after the draft but wasn't even a full time NHLer until his 21 year old season where he put up 23 points.
4. O'Reilly did improve his year over year point output in the O.
5. Yes the AHL is better than the OHL... Howard is also 2 years older.
6. O'Reilly had better playoff production than Cirelli at the same age O'Reilly: 1.56pt/g Cirelli: 1.41pt/g, also lol that the bar is 60pts.

This is some next level hating. Are you an Everett fan? Or a Barrie fan?

Oilers fan who gets defensive whenever a trade could potentially look bad for the Oilers. He got just as defensive in the Jarry for Skinner trade thread.
Wait until McDavid signs in Toronto. From GOAT to playoff choke. Though I guess the playoff choke can still happen -- it is Toronto, after all.

O'Reilly had a nice season but a lot of people getting way out over their skis here
Fact is he’s one of 4 people to have a mvp/playoff mvp/memorial cup mvp.

The other 3 are/were long time NHLers. Brad Richard’s, Corey Perry, Mitch Marner.

He may not end up as good as those 3 but that’s pretty impressive don’t you think?

Like I said it was a good season. People are going way overboard on both projecting out his NHL career and trying to get one over on the Oilers by comparing him to Howard, who also had a good year after having a good year last season as well
