Totally normal behavior on this website to bump a thread of a prospect of another team every single game he has a bad game.
My guess is that they are focusing on annoying posters who are fans of other teams and/or McGroarty and have no expectation that McGroarty even knows this thread exists.

My point isn't that McGroarty is bad (I don't follow him anymore, since he was traded), but that Jets fans are fairly normal for their salty reaction to him, especially irl (e.g. during the Pens-Jets game).

But you and I agree that our back and forth diverts from the thread topic, so I'll stop posting here and hope it goes back to a thread about McGroarty, the prospect.

Cheers.

If someone dumps you and you keep harping on and on about it and are stalking them after the fact, aren’t you validating that maybe they had a good reason for the decision they made and you are a weirdo?
Except that’s the whole point of a hockey message board…. Commenting on prospect development all over the league. Get over it! People worldwide will form and share their opinions of prospects and players for your favourite team whether you like it or not.

Good article on Rutger McGroarty’s struggles and some insight into why he’s not NHL ready

Talks about cutter and Will smith too, who are currently in the NHL.

Even after watching McGroarty go down to WBS, he just doesn’t look like himself right now. McGroarty was always so confident and tactical, often being the hardest-working player on the ice in college. This year, he looks too timid and reserved and that’s showing in his lack of production. Of the three players listed here, McGroarty’s play has been the most concerning. He had a good opportunity to play a big role for the Penguins out of the gate and he didn’t seize it. I’m confident it’ll come to him at some point – he was always one step ahead of his peers last year – but it’s going to take some time.

That Jets fans look like bitter exes by continuously bumping this thread to shit on McGroarty.
I am not a Jets fan and I never cared in the least about Rutger McGroarty before all of this. But he deemed himself special and forced his way off of a team after they selected him in the draft, despite proving nothing. He thought that he should be gifted a spot on a team that is currently 1st in the league. He forced his way off of a well-managed franchise (not some hell hole like Buffalo or Columbus, where his career might stagnate).

That is a helluva window into a guy's character, and a perfectly legitimate reason to want to see him fail. So I stand with the masses, cheering on his hubris-induced failures.

Probably a better window into his character is that several coaches deemed it good enough to give him the captaincy on the international stage, and in Michigan he wore an A as a sophomore. And he seems pretty normal in interviews, and generally unselfish as a player.

It's pro sports who cares , of course fans are gonna turn on a guy that doesn't wanna be there ,its all entertainment at the end of the day , this would be a non topic/issue in any other sport than hockey where there's only like 10 fanbases that actually live and die by their team so it looks weird when said fanbases are emotional compared to others

Yeah but it's not like he screwed them, they got Yager and he's a good prospect. Maybe equal to McGroarty.

I think the appeal to the Pens was McGroarty was older and had NHL build and was closer to making an impact.

You’re getting fooled by the worst character team in the league.

Ever wonder why Winnipeg has so much regular season success and so little in the playoffs?

This is the team that ruined Patrik Laine. Blake Wheeler and Mark Scheifele bullied him for playing too many video games until he lost his love for the sport, had to go into the player assistance program, and is now a shadow of what he once was.

This is the team that made Jacob Trouba into what he’s become. A so-called captain who selfishly (along with the help of his maniacal agent) uses coercion to turn a limited no trade clause into a full no move clause.

This is the team that reputable Finnish journalists have started questioning for how they’ve ruined numerous Finnish players over the years such as Laine, Ville Heinola, and Kristian Vesalainen. All first round picks with a ton of buzz around, and none reached their potential.

Yes, the problem was definitely the guy who generates rave reviews for his character and captains every team he plays for because he wanted to get what literally every player in a similar situation gets. What a monster.
I'm indifferent on Rutger, but man, what a kind of bizarre jumble of nonsense is this?

Laine? His best years were with the Jets. Those two bullies are the guys that set him up for 80-90 PP goals when the Jets powerplay was basically built around setting up Laine.

Trouba? Great player with the Jets. He wanted a trade to be in the US close to where his GF was studying. He got traded and both sides seemed happy with the return. What he does now with no trades is on him (and his maniacal agent).

Heinola? I'm a fan. He would have been in top six last year but got hurt. Same thing this year. Just bad luck for both him and the team.

Vesalainen? Probably our worst first round pick. He was given over 50 games in the top nine to do something and he full on sucked. Hope your favorite team takes him on as a reclamation project.

Rutger will have himself a fine career (as will Yager). I agree that counting points through a handful of AHL games is dumb...but so is doubling down and throwing out a bunch of conspiracy theory crap in response.
