Drafted as an OA/D+1, VanTassell is a pretty fluid skater for his size/age, he's a fluid puckmover in transition, and shows solid play along the boards and in front of the net. Overall, his size (6'4) and skill combination is pretty tempting, and he looks to have a good amount of room for growth with his frame (currently sub-200 pounds) .

He's part of a really strong freshman class at UMass next season, alongside Aydar Suniev, Michael Hrabal, Dans Locmelis, Sebastien Tornqvist, Chris Delaney, Nathan Lewis, among others. So his icetime next year might be limited when factoring in all the older returning players.

This is someone I had on my radar as a late pick but I really didn't think he would be drafted. Big and has a surprising amount of skill but what stood out to me was how intense he was. He showed a lot of passion when his team scored and also had no issue standing up for his teammates. He fits the current Senators' identity imo.
