Same with Kris Draper's son in 2020.

The Canucks drafted Ian Clark's (their goalie coach) son in 2008 as well, 7th round of course, and that was clearly a favour to Clark as his son Morgan struggled in the CHL (he bounced between a couple leagues even).

Oh yeah, I remember that name now. Yeah, 5'3 is just way too short.

It's interesting to hear names, but this is why I don't pay much attention to prospects until they reach major junior (or whatever their equivalent before the pros).
Exactly the early hype at ages 12,13 and 14 can get ridiculous around here sometimes.

She can be able to kick your ass and be 5'9 150 lbs, but still she will never overcome biological disadvantage.
Besides, do you really imply that other female players are not putting enormous work in the gym?
How do you get that from my post? We know that most pros hit the gym a shit ton, but a woman might have to exceed all of them in order to make up for the biological disadvantage.

I’m guessing the path is to play university hockey in the US. Still, I think going to Finnish or Swedish league would have been better for her.
Women's hockey in NA is better than Women's hockey anywhere in Europe, and she said herself that playing against grown men isn't realistic for her. The route she's taking is the best course of action for a 15 year old like herself.

She's going to become the best Women player in the world in quick order, and she's taking the correct steps to do that.

And she'll get a free education out of it.

Considering women players do not make the big bucks, it is non-negligeable.

To prepare her for what? She will get a free college education at literally any school she wants to go to, which a thousand times better to put on a resume than anything she could in Europe. Unfortunately you cannot make a living playing womens hockey and it seems like she knows this.

Absolutely the right career move, even regarding men's semi-pro leagues it should be easier to come back later on with good education and solid women's hockey fundamentals than trying to keep up with male juniors and eventually hitting a stone wall.

Great goal

Zilina was eliminated from the Boys U16 championship. Lopusanova had a goal and 2 Assists in 3 games. Her team got destroyed 15-3 in one match.

She also got hit hard twice in that game. Broke a wrist on that second hit, just a split second after releasing the pass that would be her second assist in the game.

Was bummed to see Slovakia wasn't in the tournament. Some other good young girls have surprised but nobody seems to be as exciting as Nela.
She is ineligible to play at a senior tournament this season (too young). The Div IA tournament has been postponed to August, but she won't be able to play there.

"Broke a wrist"? :eek3: You're exaggerating, right?

(I haven't seen any such headline yet, and it would certainly make headlines. I mean, she's Slovakia's best scorer since Gáborík, although "with the wrong gender".)

If she were to stay in NA and go the PHF route in ~6 years, would that be enough to cement PHF as the pinnacle of pro women's hockey? Or would the euro leagues still be higher on the tier list?

The question is will she pick Minnesota, Ohio State, or wisconsin?

How does Ohio State get anyone with that phone booth they call an arena?

6 years is a long time. If there's two leagues she'll go to whichever one offers the best balance of money, play time and competitiveness. There's a lot of high end talent around. Chloe Primerano is one to watch out for too.
