F Nate Danielson - Brandon Wheat Kings, WHL (2023, 9th, DET)

Glad that after 1 preseason we know how all these guys will turn out. Well done Detroit.
These posts are always hilarious and so pointless. Nobody said we know how anybody will turn out. The board is called hockeys future, it exists to discuss prospects and potential. There’s nobody forcing you to participate.

We’re discussing how these guys are looking on first impression against higher levels of competition. That may indicate something about their potential. They could all bust or all become all stars.

People jumping to conclusions based on preseason will never stop being ridiculous. And acting like you are deriving deep insights on them from a good training camp is silly. We don’t have an appreciably better evaluation of these guys than we did 4 months ago unless you weren’t paying any attention ahead of the draft.

Dvorsky has had an awful start to the season so let him cope

Once again, nobody has jumped to any conclusions, and nobody has derived “deep insights”. We’ve derived SOME insight, and that is that Danielson looks a lot better than some of us expected and shows flashes of having very high potential.

If a training camp provides no insight, why do teams invite anybody that’s not penciled into the roster? Shouldn’t they already know everything about each player ?

So this summer in this very thread, you came in guns ablazing to criticize Yzerman and his drafting, and lumped Danielson into the mix as a "reach" of a pick. You then dunked on Danielson by claiming that you were so glad the Wings passed on him for Dvorsky.

You seem to want to give the benefit of the doubt for it being early in the draft +1 to your own prospect in his own thread, but are quick to jump in a criticize Danielson in his thread for some reason. Maybe you're insecure about your prospect because you're the one who didn't watch enough of both before the draft?

Oof the whiff of a take

Dvorsky and Danielson are always going to be linked from now on. I myself said before the draft, Detroit should take Dvorsky, and if he’s not there, take Danielson and run to the bank. I believed Dvorsky had a higher ceiling, but that both players will be very good centermen in the league. Also believed Danielson was much closer to the NHL because of his physical tools. What I didn’t know, as you only know once they step on NHL ice is, how great Danielson thinks the game. How he processes the game at high speeds.

It’s a big factor looking at it now, because that seems to be an issue with Dvorsky BUT sometimes that just takes time. As I pointed out in the Dvorsky thread.

We’re just not going to know for a good 4-5 years, who the better pick was, unless Dvorsky just totally tanks over the next year or two. I think the Blues had every intention of taking Danielson if Detroit took Dvorsky. I think they were going to trade down with Buffalo, thinking they’d get him at 13.

So I believe both teams liked both players. The only thing we know today, that we didn’t know on draft night, is that Danielson will absolutely play in the NHL at a young age, and it looks like we’re gonna have to wait awhile on Dvorsky. The Blues shouldn’t be hitting any panic button though.

Many times, especially with Europeans, they have to dominate each level before moving up. Before they can “think the game” at the NHL level. Dvorsky has struggled now, 2 years in a row, when he’s played up a level. So he’s gonna need some time. Like I said in his thread, if he’s still struggling like this come the spring time, then maybe the Blues start being a little concerned.

Right now though? We just don’t know yet. Just cause Danielson looked so good, and just turned 19, and will obviously be playing in the NHL next year, doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll end up the better player. That said, it’s a good start for him in that regard, and not such a good start for Dvorsky. Right now, that’s all we know.

i was right then and i'm right now.

Bergeron level?

C'mon now. Bergeron is a hall of famer. If Danielson is already after his 1st pro training camp penciled to become a 90 points elite defensive C, he should have been picked #1 or #2 OA.

It's ok to be a fan, but these expectations are not realistic.
Apparently you are wholly unfamiliar with Bergeron. His peak production in a full season was 73 points. Far from a 90-point guy. He averaged 65.6 points/game through his NHL career. And why are you saying penciled in? The guy said that the potential was there, not that he was guaranteed to achieve it.

Posts like this are so silly. 4 months ago we only had scouting of him against kids, and not even against the best of the best of his age group, just the WHL. Now we have seen him dozens of times against much higher competition, whether it be in training camps, or preseason, or NHL practices. You can glean more insight from all that.

Is danielson trying to force Brandon to trade him or what? Tuned in for the first and (mid way through second) and it seems like he could care less about what is going on. He’s been absolutely awful against Portland.

it's a 1-11 game, if other team has such a game, they may just bench their best player to let them get some rest instead of playing the meanless game
