Franchise tier prospect and a genuine one not just a superstar, his two way game is so good I see a future winner in general, be that Stanley Cup, Olympics, and maybe a few individual awards on the way.

Apparently they’re using some analytics which track recovery. I wouldn’t be surprised if Macklin’s fitness is at another level, allowing him to recover faster. I do know that Grier said he’d like them both to play the last 30-40 games straight to get used to the grind of the second half. I’d be surprised if Mack gets a rest tbh, but there are some upcoming away games that don’t include elite centers, dmen, or other top young centers (I think Mack will most want and will learn the most in those games).

FYI he is 18 and won't be 19 until after the season is over.
He is absolutely crushing the minutes as if he has been in the league for years. The kid is READY. It's quite possible they see him challenging for the calder and/or having one of the top rookie seasons in league history as a good motivational goal for him. You can tell he wants to achieve and it seems right for his development to let him eat, in the parlance of our times.

Will Smith on the other hand is literally not NHL ready physically or mentally. You do have to worry he might get damaged physically or mentally over the course of the long season.

Celebrini is good right off the bat in all phases while Smith is an all-offense player that struggles with physicality, so Warsofsky is doing that old-school bullshit coach thing where you put your skill players on checking lines to make them do things they will never be above average at instead of putting them with other skill players to build their confidence while they adjust to the increased speed and physicality of the NHL.

As a Shark fan in London, UK....the championship happens to be during a bank holiday weekend. That sounds like an ideal way to see some Celebrini and visit Stockholm for the first time. Granlund, Smith, Eklund, Zetterlund, and Walman could all be there as well.

On topic of his season, another goal last night, he's now tied with Michkov (and one ahead on goals) for the points lead in 7 less games. Huston 8 ahead on assists. Mack's got 12 points in his last 9, but SJ has lost 8 of those (and 10 of 12).

Celebrini is so stupidly good. His offence is elite. He has a great shot, great passing, great IQ. Better than expected in all ways. The defence though. I expected "pretty good for a rookie" out of the gate, not "Holy shit that's amazing." He's a budding Selke contender that could be among the top scorers.

What really impresses me (other than like, everything) m is his ability to win so many puck battles against guys bigger/more experienced than him all over the ice. He’ll somehow stretch out and while he’s falling, steal the puck from a guy and pass it to a teammate. It’s like he’s got a cheat code on because sometimes it barely makes sense on how he gets the puck off someone, he just does. The takeaway part of his game is going to be Datsyukian at its height.

Tonight was a good example of Celebrini's two biggest weaknesses:
1. Being 18. What I mean is, he sometimes forces plays and shots that aren't smart, particularly in transition or looking for a pass to the slot. These can result in dangerous turnovers and/or odd man rushes the other way. Sometimes he heroes his way to a back checking stop, but would be better if he were more mature in picking his spots. I'm sure it'll come in time.
2. Finishing. He has scored deceptive snipes, he's crashed the net for ugly goals, he's slipped pucks through traffic, he's blasted 1Ts on the power play. But very notably, including tonight, he has not scored a single breakaway, shootout, or 1:1 goal in tight. He has skill to finish, but sometimes looks like he's doing too much. Hopefully this improves with time also.

His actual biggest weakness:
1. He is on the Sharks and the Sharks are absolute dogwater right now. He is the only consistent 1st line quality player on the team other than maybe Eklund who is borderline due to his lack of size. With that paper-thin depth, Eklund being out leaves only Celebrini. This leads to having to do it all and having to deal with all the defensive attention. Literally no one else on the team is a consistent gamebreaking player. If no one else on the team is a credible threat to score, the goalie can prioritize him.

He has shown the ability to choose safer plays but the Sharks are so bad, all that will do is make sure absolutely nothing happens and they spend the whole game defending.
