After a rough one vs Cape Breton, Steiner bounced back playing a very sharp game in Halifax today. Bill Zonnon deflected a Steiner shot for the Huskies lone goal of the game and Antonin Verreault didn't get a point on that play. Therefore, Steiner is currently (tied with Verreault and Mathieu Cataford) the QMJHL's leading scorer.

Those are McKenna type stats.

Had himself another good game in Saint John tonight, adding a goal and a PP primary assist. Has 27 points on the season now.

Thats pretty insane. Is that the best major junior production of a 2026 eligible player outside McKenna right now?
I think so. And I can think of only four 2025 eligible prospects (Michael Misa, Porter Martone, Cameron Schmidt, Carter Bear) on a better pace than Steiner.

Interestingly, compared to the other two CHL leagues, the QMJHL has become a low scoring league. Steiner and his Centerman Bill Zonnon are pretty much the lone NHL draft relevant prospects on a decent scoring pace. Other than that, young forward prospects seem to struggle with scoring in the QMJHL. That may be due to a lack of talent but I think it's also possible the QMJHL is trending up again. If you look at the top of QMJHL scoring it's really just Steiner/Zonnon and lots of NHL drafted players/04 born overagers.
