After watching some of the games, I think that he's getting a lot of bad puck luck. He's one of the best players for his NTDP year. I have a few questions about how he projects to pro hockey, but he's making a lot happen and the puck isn't going in the net. He has fantastic 1v1 puck skills, and can pull pucks through defenders and make them miss with the best of them. His skating is more slippery than fast, although I don't think he skates bad for 5'11 176. He plays center early this season. I think he has a chance to stick at center, but it's not a certainty. Decent hockey sense. More of a shooter than passer, but the true scoring skills, both shooting and passing, are a little questionable. He seems more like a puck handler than a scorer, if that makes sense. I would classify him as a likely first rounder, but I don't see it as a certainty. He's probably a rough projection like a Frank Nazar, but we could also be talking about him as a second or third round pick and I wouldn't be shocked.

He started out extremely slow but has gotten it going lately in terms of production. 8 points in 8 USHL games, 12 points in 22 total games for the NTDP.

He's kind of running away with the scoring in the USHL games for the USNTDP (if EP is correct)...he now has 3 more goals than anybody else has points...I have no idea what the make-up of these games have been so far so not trying to draw any massive conclusions, but if he keeps up this pace, it is far, far exceeding anything that any of the '07 guys did last year in the USHL.

In eliteprospects USNTDP u17/18 and USNTDP juniors (USHL) are listed differently. Also in the USHL USNTDP junior stats there are u17 and u18 players mixed.

Anyone can explain why are they listed differently? What other games they play than USHL?

Hurlbert has amazing stats in USNTDP juniors in USHL but terrible stats in USNTDP u17.

NTDP17 start their season playing against NAHL teams, then play against USHL teams + international U17 teams. NTDP18 start their season playing against USHL teams, then play against NCAA teams + international U18 teams.

The stats from the USNTDP Juniors are included in the USNTDP U17 stats. So every game Hurlbert has played is covered by the u17 stats

And in addition, Hurlbert started the season a little slow and also had some bad puck luck at the beginning, so that's the big disparity in his stats.
