Younger brother of recent WHL 1st rounder Tij Iginla and the son of NHL HHOFer Jarome Iginla.
Finished second in scoring among u14 players in the CSSHL after Noah Kosick and is an interesting player going forward!

He is overtaken in points by a teammate younger than him. At the same age his brother was playing in U18. His 2023 WHL draft rank should be much lower. An NHL career will be very complicated for him.

At the same age, Tij was playing U14 hockey in the US I believe, he diddn’t play U18 until after he was drafted into the WHL, his 15 year old season whereas Joe is in his 14 year old season - Joe is on the right track and could definitely be a first round talent for the WHL bantam draft.

Well seen. By recent draft standards, Joe Iginla will be late 1st round WHL/early 2nd.

Maybe Cage Smith is a better offensive player than him?

A lot to unpack here. First off you understand that the WHL draft they select players at 15 years of age right? One year earlier than both the OHL and QMJHL.

This years WHL draft, WHL teams will be selecting from the pool of 2008 born kids eligible - Most of these 2008’s are eligible for the 2026 NHL draft, the players born on September 15th and beyond are eligible for the 2027 NHL draft (Cage Smith, Harshaan Kaila are examples of this)

Joe Iginla is an August 2008 born player, meaning he is NHL draft eligible for the 2026 NHL draft - and is eligible for the upcoming WHL draft - so his peers are Lemire, the Rucks and Eli Barrett - not the 2009 born skaters of Ei McKamey, or Landon Dupont - who are NHL draft eligible in 2027 - and WHL Draft eligible next year, in 2024.

Your list above:

All these kids, except Cage Smith are 2026 NHL draft eligibles. not 2025 as you wrote.

Joe Iginla should be apart of THIS “list”. Not the other one in which most of those kids are 2027 NHL draft eligibles, not 2026 like you stated.

In short - your information about these players is wrong.

I know the difference between teams is sometimes huge, at this stage, level
but when you are just 6 goals short of 2.00 goals per game...
its still very impressive if you ask me..

scored 3 goals and added a primary apple.

in 20 games this season so far (for the youngest of the Iginla's)

34 goals
21 assists
55 points
2.75 ppg
