But Nashville guys, how do you see his chances getting a spot in Preds next season?! To me he is much better prospect than Parssinen, and I've loved everything Parssinen has done..
Before these AHL playoffs, we probably would have put Kemell's chances of getting a spot with Preds next season right about at ZERO! :)

But now... he is certainly making things interesting. That shot would look nice on our PP. (Right where Tolvanen could have been!)

I still think it's not very likely... but at least something > 0. The main problem is we were also planning to elevate both of Tomasino and Evangelista next season also, and there is a practical limit to how many young/smallish/offensive RWs we can integrate at once. Plus we have heard Trotz chanting some mantras about the number of 1st round picks who will be in Milwaukee next season, and how he sees no harm in "overcooking" players in the AHL, so I would say things definitely point to Kemell starting in the AHL again. But at least he has served some notice that he may wish to challenge that assumption.

As for Parssinen, I think he should be our #1 center in Nashville next season. It's too bad he got hurt. I just love the way he shields the puck and can do the heavy lifting on a line, I thought he had great chemistry with Forsberg when they played together, I would keep them together to start next season. But his breakout was maybe a little bit before Trotz started paying attention, so maybe Trotz missed seeing some of that. Probably Parssinen will have to prove himself all over again. Such a different player than Kemell, though, but if you told me we'd have a 1st line of Forsberg-Parssinen-Kemell one day soon, I'd be very happy to see that.

F*cks wrong with the Preds system and handling and developing their forward talents. Just like leafs with their D's.
Mind blowing... If they'll keep this up the next crop will end up like the earlier ones. They need to make some structural changes because if they believe Flip Forsberg will win it on his own for them they' re dreaming...

He wasn't ready for the nhl at training camp, another season in the AHL getting top minutes isn't going to kill him.

Have you watched Kemell play in the preseason games? He's looked like he doesn't even want to be in the NHL. Both last year and this year.

In AHL he had like what, 2 points in 6 games until the 5 point night. The guy needs to show more consistency and higher work ethic before he gets to dip his toes in the NHL.

What's going on with this guy? And why won't the Preds call him up to give him some games in the NHL?
There isn't really any role for him in Nashville atm. Svechkov and L'Heureux have been better than Kemell in the AHL so far.

There's always a need for a #2C in Nashville which gives Svechkov a role to at least be tried in (for a few shifts in the 1st period), while L'Heureux can slot in as an energy player on a lower line.

Once Nyquist moves on at the TDL, maybe a spot on the wing opens up later for Kemell, but he's going to have to produce more in the AHL first.

This is just bs. Your team more or less sucks and no one sees them as a contender. Nyqvist is old news. Actually criminal to not give Kemell the chance now even if he would fail. He won't get any better in the AHL anymore.

I don't think players should be "given a chance" when they haven't earned it, even on bad teams like Nashville. Like I said, maybe by the time the TDL rolls around Nyquist will have been traded and maybe Kemell will have stepped up his game in the AHL. We'll see. He is still just 20 years old, there is lots of time for him, and lots of room for him to continue improving in the AHL.

"Haven't earned it". Complete bs in all honesty. How is he supposed to earn it?
Why I just can't buy y ur argument: Mostly because the Preds suck and there is no way around it. Second of all, it will probably benefit him, the organization in the long run and if he doesn't pan out? It's again, better for his development and will not let his trade value sink as much. So no matter how you try to twist and turn it? I strongly agree to disagree.

Also, the track record by now is crystal clear when it comes to the Preds and how they handle offensive talent. You guys are acting like the franchise competes or have a golden Red Wings roster. Newsflash: You don't.

I don't think you're helping yourself with all the "Preds suck" rhetoric. All Preds fans know it, none are denying it, and we too are frustrated with the player development. However, that's at the NHL level. So far, the team has done quite well at bringing guys along in the AHL, and promoting them when they are ready. It's actually once they hit the NHL level that the recent string of coaches have really thrown roadblocks at them and their progress has stalled.

So yes, we do have issues in Nashville. But we can recognize those while at the same time recognizing that Kemell hasn't even run into those roadblocks yet. He hasn't yet reached that stage. He had a weak and disappointing training camp. In Milwaukee, he's a decent top-6 forward. He hustles. He has only scored 5 goals this season, however, and only got 16 last season. And 3 of those goals this season were in his one big game. Outside of that game he has just 2 goals and 4 assists in the other 14 games he has played. It's not enough.

He needs to almost double his AHL production level in order to earn a recall to the NHL for his role as a scoring winger. Right now, if the Preds were going to recall somebody, he'd be behind Hinostroza and Schaefer on the list. And that's with Svechkov and L'Heureux having already leapfrogged him. So he simply needs to step it up. Again, he has plenty of time, so nobody is particularly worried yet.
