Yes. Connor McDavid is also just some random hockey player to me, in the sense that his existence and performance has no effect on my life.
It's strange you're on a hockey forum when clearly, the only things people should be concerned about are getting food, water and shelter.

If you were a fan of Connor McDavid's, then his existence and performance would indeed have an effect on your life. Similarly, if you like a band, then the band's existence and performance has an effect on your life.

Now, if you don't care about hockey, then I'm not sure why you're on a hockey forum and are insinuating that it's strange that people would care about hockey. You can find plenty of people who don't care about hockey players on, well, another platform than a hockey forum.

I'm very confused. So do you even care about hockey? Why are you on hockey forum?

Boy you really don't have a lot of patience for teenage hockey players that play in men's leagues. You were similarly emo about Brad Lambert and now he's lighting up the WHL.

I'd withhold your concerns until he fails to progress in North America.
Wow. Lambert scoring in a junior league. I'm so impressed.

Assistant coach Ville Nieminen had some sort of vision for Kemell to become power forward and that also shows how he was used at times. So he really wasn't in the situation to succeed the way some expected. Feel like Nieminen's idea of creating a stereotypical Preds player of him wasn't the ideal.
Not sure if it makes sense to turn Kemell into a power forward considering that he's not a very big guy. Might run into injury problems in NHL. The injury he had in his draft year was because of overly aggresive hitting.

Better than Guenther?
I've only seen 4 Seattle games with both of them playing, and I think Lambert has been the better, more impactful player. He dominates all 3 zones with his skating. He's also been playing mostly center vs Guenther as a winger.

Their raw counting stats support this viewpoint, though it's a small sample.

Lambert
18gp 12g 27p 72 shots +22
0.67 g/gp
1.50 p/gp
4.00 shots/gp

Guenther
12gp 6g 17p 39 shots +20
0.50 g/gp
1.42 p/gp
3.25 shots/gp

They are a very dangerous duo though, with Lambert's speed & skill and Guenther's shot & strength.

I think Nashville fans would be worried if he gets to Milwaukee and stalls out, but only worried because it would be yet another 1st round pick that fizzled. Like another poster mentioned, we do have a good pipeline of wingers coming up at the moment so if he needs a few years the timing should be about right.

I am pretty much stat watching, but I was surprised, to say the least when I saw that Ottavainen who the Kraken drafted in 2021 has as many points as Kemell does this year. Ottavainen has played 8 more games (51), but I consider him more of a defense-first type of D-man.

Ottavainen has been better than Kemell.

Guys like Morrow and Paveliski aren't very big but they still definitively play a powerforward+ role. I kind of think that's the type of player he could become some day, stylistically. Well, with less center ability/playing time than Pavelski. But Pavelski has always shifted back and forth from wing to center. Anyway.

Debrincat too. Not sure I'd call him a powerfoward, but he plays very physical and racks up HITs, at only 5'8. Kinda reminds me of Theo Fleury a bit.

Hyman can play pretty physical, he's only like 5'11.

Morrow might actually be the best compare, potentially. But Kemell I think has a bit more than Morrow offensively too. Morrow in his case, pure power winger. He was only 5'11, like Pavelksi I believe.

It's funny (and a bit nostalgic) watching the end of this clip where they pull out the flags celebrating, and also a very clear contrast to NHL supporter culture.

I was just watching a clip from the recent Canucks vs Kings game, and after Edler's goal a lot of people in the stands (Crypto.com) were standing up high-fiving each other. I'm not attending games anymore but I don't remember ever seeing that in Sweden, i.e. people standing up high-fiving each other.

Hope he finds his confidence again after getting away from Rautakorpi.
Rautakorpi is a bloody awful coach for young promising players. It was absolutely a disaster when he was several years ago coaching the Finnish U20 national team. Finland almost got relegated that time. He is a boring system coach, who might do well, with the right kind of defensive minded veterans, but never let him coach a team with really promising youngsters, because if you do, you will regret it in the end.

Yeah and IIRC he was fired mid-tournament because the players basically demanded it. Just shows you what an awful dinosaur of a coach he is.

Hey man, your favorite prospect is having a good start in the AHL. Why so quiet? Or are we doing the thing where we only post when there's something to whine about?

Kemell goal in timestamp, 1+1 last night

I don't watch AHL games so I have nothing to report about.

Really excited to see how he has turned his season around. One of my favorite players going into last draft. You can't hate these guys with a knack for goal scoring! I love how ready primed was for the cross-ice pass from Leonard. He looks like he could be a powerplay fixture for a long time.

Seems like a pattern where some young players are not properly utilized in the Finnish League quite often. Do they have many coaches who are biased towards veterans? I heard Rautakorpi does not tend to deploy young players properly at all, and has a large focus on defense and physicality.

Yes, Liiga is pretty much full of very defensive minded concervative coaches who easily favor veteran players. In fact the only really good coaches with developing young players and having some more active and fresh hockey style are Tommi Niemelä for Pelicans, Tommi Miettinen for KalPa and maybe Ville Peltonen for HIFK and Karri Kivi for Ässät. Niemelä is in fact taking his team right now to the Liiga finals and he is an excellent motivator and coach for young talents, although even he couldn’t get anything out of Brad Lambert last year. But Lambert is a bit problematic player in general, and not even close to as talented player as he was hyped for a couple years ago. Kemell on the other hand is a really talented player in my opinion, but was completely misused this season and in the doghouse of the worst coach in Liiga for coaching young talents, which was Rautakorpi.
