His pride for coming from Long Island completely comes across in this article. His agent is a no-name former hockey player from Long Island, he's buddies with Coronato and Tanner Adams, and like half this article is about his upbringing in Long Island. He has a younger sister who the article says is good. She's three years younger than him. Also included is that Michael is a lot better academically (Straight A's) and James isn't that, so Harvard Admissions probably is why they ended up at BC.

McAvoy is really our only Star/elite player from Long Island right now. Going to be rooting hard for Hagens. Can’t wait to watch him next year and especially for team USA. He and Coronato have a shot to be elite forwards

Completely different. Hagens is a U18. Celebrini was a U17 last year. It’s similar to Lafreniere, who made it as a U18.

not really relevant but laf made it as a u17 too, just didn't really get to play much.

i'm very jealous of whoever gets this kid...he's going to be a highlight reel machine

Cool to hear there is a growing summer skating group of Hagens, Coronato, Pinto, Milano, Wilmer, Duszak. Would be nice to see Fox and McAvoy skate with the younger guys, but seems most NHL stars are either skating in Michigan or Boston.

Long Island Pride is a weakness not a strength in this world

Pride for where your from is a bad thing? Can't agree with this. I think it's great.
Just like many other types of regional prides, Long Island pride can manifest it in bad ways in people's personalities. Sometimes people will manifest the best aspects of where they're from or sometimes they'll manifest the bad aspects of where they're from. There just have definitely been a few very talented kids from Long Island who've manifested the bad side of it

That wasn't his U17 year, that was his U18 year. For players born after September 15 it can be confusing which is their U17 and U18 year.

Cocky dbags basically
Pretty much this. There's been some pretty talented kids with lots of skill, bad work ethic, think they're smarter than everyone, don't listen from Long Island who've given it a bit of a bad wrap. Then you have a kid like McAvoy who has the edge you want from a Long Island kid but none of the other crap

If Hagens does go #1 overall in 2025, the draft coverage of Mt Saint Charles will be something we'll see over and over because they will have 3 out of 9 Americans ever to go #1 overall to have played there. Im guessing it'll be kind of like when all the Shattuck coverage blew up with Crosby and Toews

Kind of hoping the Isles implode and snag him so he can play for the team he grew up a fan of which just about never happens for the Isles.

There's a couple high end skills coaches with Long Island connections that do some pro skates. Justin Agosta and Anthony Perdicaro. Perdicaro is out of FL and has worked with the Panthers quite a bit. There's also Sam Cheema who does quite a bit of work in Newark with guys out there. I know he's trained Adam Sykora and Matt Brown.
