how many times did they pass on kaprizov? the best player the crap minnesota ever had.If a great drafting team like Anaheim passed on him, im a little bit hesitant to say he'd be amazing.

I'm sure they'd like a re-do on Drysdale if they hadn't traded him. They're trying to jettison Zegras. Guhle and Boldy are clearly better and drafted after each.If a great drafting team like Anaheim passed on him, im a little bit hesitant to say he'd be amazing.
Perrault can play and Carlson is going to be a studI'm sure they'd like a re-do on Drysdale if they hadn't traded him. They're trying to jettison Zegras. Guhle and Boldy are clearly better and drafted after each.
Tracey and Perrault will never be NHLers. Not looking great for Gaucher. They passed on Fantilli for Carlsson.
This great drafting team isn't backed up with NHL results.
Perreault was objectively the worst forward in Laval and isn't in the conversation at all to make the Habs opening roster. Or even in the top 5 call up conversation. He was traded for a guy (Mysak) who had fallen out of our top 30 prospects.Perrault can play and Carlson is going to be a stud
Sorry wrong Perrault . I was thinkin the kid playing US hockey was Anaheim property ( hes not , he’s a Ranger ) . Hard to tell if that’s funny or douchy .
Look at the age of that line vs the others. They are in the top ten lines and are wayyyy younger. Only up from there. They will be a dominant lineRank is based on the number of goals scored, not level. So that requires that they often played together, something which was effective because there was no other player to play on the 1st line.
Of the 10 lines listed, the one with the worst goal scored/conceded differential is the Caufield-Suzuki-Slafkovsky line. It's also the line with the lowest weight of goals scored by the team. And yet Montreal was weak after the 1st line.

I actually think he's going to be great defensively. He's always moving his feet, is consistent in backchecking, is not afraid to play physical, has great IQ, and is committed to doing anything to help the team. Just because he's not great at it now doesn't mean he won't develop that facet, he needs to get stronger first.Honestly Habs fans should expect perhaps a 60-70 point scorer who won't be good defensively.
Not awful for a 5th overall. If he produces even close to Suzuki it would be a miracle.
There's a reason he dropped to 5th overall and no it's not the russian effect.
Believe it or not, many people, pro scouts included, said this same thing almost verbatim about Alex Galchenyuk when he was in juniors.I actually think he's going to be great defensively. Luckily we have management that actually care about and provide proper development instead of just 'it's all up to the player'.Believe it or not, many people, pro scouts included, said this same thing almost verbatim about Alex Galchenyuk when he was in juniors.
The point is that this is called counting your chickens before they hatch, and it’s always done by overzealous fans.
Is he strong defensively now? No. That’s what we have to go on, along with the fact that strong defensive play isn’t his game to begin with, being that he’s an offensive winger.

So like half a bust ? ^^^Agreed.
Demibust
Throwing Slafkovsky to the wolves where he looked lost and out of his depth for most of his rookie season and then got injured because of it is "Proper development"?Luckily we have management that actually care about and provide proper development instead of just 'it's all up to the player'.
Hey, it's still a big step up from the previous group. At least we now have a skills development coach, a mental performance coach and a bunch of advisors who regularly talk to the prospects.Throwing Slafkovsky to the wolves where he looked lost and out of his depth for most of his rookie season and then got injured because of it is "Proper development"?
If Demidov wasn't on contract for the next season in the KHL the Hab's would probably do the same to him.
perhaps they're better with later picks but the way they developed top picks have been suspect and continue to be suspect.

Same could be said of the Devils with Jack Hughes and everything ended out ok. He was clearly not ready for the NHL but they still gave him a pro contract and never sent him in the AHL when he was struggling.Throwing Slafkovsky to the wolves where he looked lost and out of his depth for most of his rookie season and then got injured because of it is "Proper development"?

A lot easier to say that you would send your #1 OA back to the AHL/Europe/College than to actually do it.
Modano played for the Dallas Stars organization, not the Timberwolves. Yes, the Stars played in Minnesota his first few years, but I think the other poster was referring to the franchise, not the state.Modano says hold my beer
Demidov went 5 th , Barzal 16 th . It’s not the same at all . There was no consensus at in the top 5 ; other teams just found other options more enticing . Also if he ends up Barzal ish career wise seems like many in the thread would be disappointed by that outcomeHoping this guy is the 2024 version of Matt Barzal
