F Ivan Demidov - SKA St. Petersburg, KHL (2024, 5th, MTL)

What I can't wrap my head around is what is the point of it? Over the previous 2 years SKA lead the KHL in wins by a good amount (80), this year they are in a 4 way tie for 8th OA in wins. Demidov not even being used on the PP when he clearly can help this team is just insane, why would you do that and risk losing more games.

I guess I don't get what message they are trying to send to the rest of prospects in their system while at the same time to their fans. We aren't winning as much but at least Demidov is pissed he's not getting ice time, we sure are showing him!
Rotenberg has no logic, I highly doubt he's able to send any message at all.

Because of it i really doubt it's all about resigning. What is the point if Michkov was signed for a multi-year deal, but walked out of it with no problem?
These things happening in SKA not only with high end NHL prospects.

I guess the message for all of the prospects out there is not to sign with SKA, while Rottenburger is around

He is a 100% superstar. He just don't play at this moment. But he have everything to put 100 points ++ per season at NHL level.

Pity Demidov plays under Rotenberg, could be interesting to compare his season to Michkov's. When he was given enough trust and time he looked on par with Matvei, it didn't last long though. He should have moved to Sochi before the season started...

Not even remotely close; he'll put up seventy on a good year, or eighty if trends in scoring continue their upwards trajectory, but that won't be nearly as impressive as it would have been just five years ago. A perfectly-fine first line player, and probably the best on the Habs, but nothing close to being a star.

It's baffling the degree to which Demidov is overrated.

I respect your opinion. I just want to know what you base yourself on to say he’ll have 70 points on a good year? Remember, Michkov is doing PPG in his rookie season while adapting to North American hockey,

Michkov is on a whole other level. That kid is pure brilliance. Demidov is gonna be great, Michkov is a superstar.

If Chicago or ducks/columbus drafted him he wouldn’t say the same. He would be saying the habs are missing out.

I don’t think what he says should be taken seriously, he’s basically saying on a ‘’good year’’ at his peak he isn’t gonna be better than Nick Suzuki which is laughable.

I’m open minded. Basically he’s saying that a reasonable expectation for Demidov is someone like Josh Bailey, Martin Necas or Tyler Johnson? Maybe a poor man’s Robert Thomas? It’s on the lower side of appraisals. I just want to know what he bases himself on.

Obviiously crap because there is no conparison between necas, bailey and Johnson. Bailey and Johnson are not even close to Necas. Thomas is though.
