Do you normally follow the CHL? Almost every player that reports to a team has some sort of agent influence that steers them one way. The import draft is almost exclusively a connections draft and the regular priority selection is becoming that way as well

I didn't realize agents were that connected to individual teams. But it makes sense.

Many of the top brass in KHL/Russian hockey have been saying for a while that the biggest reason kids leave early is the influence of manipulative agents.

Well it works to get the best surgeon and care in Vail, Colorado. His rehabilitation is best suited in the OHL and he can still develop with Lazary as HC. Hopefully a good playoff run to boot. All healed he will be a force in the OHL

As speculated by @Kingpin794 , this could have been part of the plan -- surgery in USA, rehab assignment in OHL starts 4-6mo later, head to AHL if development is going well.

Changes the narrative a bit on the OHL vs KHL decision.

Maybe. But why would the Sharks allow him to participate in development camp.....risking further injury? Why not perform the surgery immediately after signing him, guaranteeing a faster return?

He already had a surgery on his shoulder last year. Me thinks he could've re-injured it during development camp. It fits the time-table....especially considering Saginaw's GM said he was expecting Chernyshov to have an immediate impact on their roster.

Probably was 50/50 on if he needed another surgery or not. Used camp to see for sure where he was at. Drinkell (Saginaw GM) likely knew this and presented the optimistic view right away. He's not going to tell fans "yeah there's a 50/50 chance we don't see this kid til January". Things didn't work out. Got looked at and needed more work. Unfortunate. Hopefully they (Saginaw) hold there heads above water until the trade deadline. They can still be decent and a good place for Igor. Just needs to get healthy.

Right, but that still means the plan was always Saginaw, injury rehab or not.
