F Griffin Storey - Waseca High, USHS-MN (2027 Draft)

Does he play against good competition? His stats are absurd. He's a Freshman and is third for defenseman scoring in Minnesota.
 
He plays against horrible competition. The southern part of the state has a dearth of the hockey talent so decent players put up huge numbers.

Doesn't mean he won't be good; Jaxon Nelson and Chaz Smedsrud are both solid players who played for Luverne in that conference and scored a ton. More recently Carsen Musser came from down there but he left pretty quickly.

Brody Lamb came from down there in Dodge County as well. Maddox Fleming from Rochester (yes I know Rochester is bigger) also. But yeah Southern Minnesota doesn't have a great hockey talent pool. Interested to see what Storey will do when he moves on to junior.

I was more talking conferences which is who they play most of their games against. Big Nine is slightly tougher than the Big South but not by much.

Does Moorhead go to the Twin Cities and further east & north to play teams, or do they also play a mix of Western and Northwest Minnesota schools?

They've played just about every top metro team in the state this year, sometimes twice. Mostly in tournaments but teams will also drive up to their barn on weekends and vice versa.

Appreciate the info, who are some of the best 2007, and 2008‘s in Minnesota right now?
 
Interested to see what he does in 2024-25. Numbers should increase further, putting him on the radar of USHL scouts, as he's 2025 USHL Draft eligible. Storey, being a small school kid, from Southern Minnesota, feels like the type Minnesota State and St Thomas have to early offer to get to commit.

7th in total points and PPG. Basically everyone else in the same range is 2-3 years older than him.

Is the competition that terrible or is he someone that could make the NTDP next year?

Competition is really bad for our standards. Look what Jaxon Nelson did to Southwest Minnesota HS competition and then put up ok USHL numbers before a solid career at Minnesota.
