Like I wrote numerous times I as a big fan of Minten, I think he was the best player on both side both days

I think he was superior to Beck but Beck was also decent
Fair enough . Saw highlights of the first but not second game . Did he return to the game after his slip / check ?

I still think he ends up back to the Marlies eventually but he's making it really tough.

All the kid has done since coming up is produce.

5 games, 2 goals, 2 assists 4 points, and last night he scored the back breaker on Chicago when he made it 3-1 just 20 seconds after he scored.

I don't know if he's sticking on this team this year.

But baring injury he's sticking next year, and if he keeps this up who knows.

I can't be bothered to read up this thread, since some of it is dated by now..

.. but what kind of player he is? Saw his last game, and he looked interesting. Good head for the game?

Smart 200ft center who skates well, can win faceoffs and be trusted defensively.

He's more of a shooter than a playmayer and his offensive ceiling is the biggest question.

Right now I would project a 20-20 type #3C.

He's a kid that plays center like a veteran. He's a really solid two way player. Just seems like a high hockey IQ player. I don't think he's going to be sent down like the other post has alluded to.

Think he sticks on this roster - at least until Jarnkrok is back.

I'd sooner see Robertson, Holmberg and Reaves off this roster than Minten.

Knies - Matthews - Nylander
McMann - Tavares - Marner
Pacioretty - Minten - Domi
Lorentz - Kampf - Jarnkrok
Extra: Dewar, Holmberg

I doubt Holmberg comes out though

Thanks for these. He reminded me of Nick Bonino with wheels. Interesting player and I hope he does well for Leafs.

He's definitely a gamer. I think a lot of people soured on him after the whole WJC captain thing but he was horribly misused by the coaching staff so it wasn't really his fault.

Keefe mentioned this last year and Berube has as well this year, but he's extremely vocal on the bench and directs linemates and such. Don't see that from rookies very often. Ceiling isn't crazy high but he should be a good 3C for years. Maybe a 2C for the Leafs if they don't find someone to take over for JT in the coming years. I think he'd be solid with a guy like Marner/Nylander on his wing in the 2 spot.

He's the 2024 version of Matt Stajan. And as long as the Leafs don't just throw too much money at him to keep him is actually a really nice thing

He's shown that he can hang in the NHL .. question for him now is if he's ready for the grind of the long season and what his ceiling is.

He's earned longer rope with the big club with some early production and quality play. Let's see how he holds up over a longer period.

Looked good vs Hawks and appears to be a guy who will stick as a C so a top 6 C seems his upside and no reason to think he doesn't have it in him

At the very least he looks like a smart two way middle 6 C which is great for a 2nd round pick.

2+2 in 6 games in his callup and generating lots of chances. Earned as you mentioned a promotion onto the 2nd line with JT and Marner last night.

Leafs and 2nd rounder steals name a more iconic duo

Looks like a solid NHL er in the making . I’d be happy with a Bonino ish result . It’s not sexy but it plays . There’s enough skill throughout the lineup that a lunch box guy is welcome
