2+5=7 points in his first 10 college games. Pretty good for a 2nd round pick, and a player who was on the younger side for the 2023 draft and I think also had to accelerate his schooling to play at Notre Dame this season.
3 years of college or 2 years and then 1 AHL, and I think he'll be ready for the NHL. I think he probably won't make the World Juniors team this year, although it's not completely out of the question and he should make the final camp. Next year he should be on that team.Feels like a guy that will develop slow and steady. I’m high on him as far as becoming an NHLer. He was mostly asked to play checking/defensive forward role( when he wasn’t actually playing as a defenseman) for the USNTD.
I haven’t been able to watch him yet this year for Norte Dame but I’m looking forward to catching a few games.

Notre Dame has been trying to incorporate a little more of an offensive style, and he's one point off the team lead. I think he could end up their best player over the next few years, and the focal point of their offense.
I thought he should’ve been a first round pick. I think the Isles got very good value. Didn’t have a first round pick, but got a first round caliber player in the middle of the second round.Early to make bold predictions but this is starting to look like a very good pick. Among team leaders in scoring and pushing for a spot with the USA U20 team as an 18-year-old.
Added bonus of skating with his older brother Henry at Notre Dame.
He has been 1C most of the season. The scoring is a little misleading with L Slaggert on his wing (who has been a beast scoring around the crease all season).
He’s big. Uses his size very well. Great on the PK. 59% on face offs. Leads the Irish forwards in blocked shots. Does everything you want a bottom 6 NHL center to do. Scoring will likely be the difference between bottom 6 and top 6 NHL potential.
I’d have him as the 4C at WJC over Stramel. And it’s not close.
Ideal bottom player for nhl7+12=19 points in 22 games. He's having a very good season for a second round pick. He's the fifth youngest player in NCAA this season.
He's been hot since coming back from the WJC.7+12=19 points in 22 games. He's having a very good season for a second round pick. He's the fifth youngest player in NCAA this season.

What's impressive is that he hasn't been a full time center for a very long time.
Also true.He hasn't been a full time forward for very long.
He was the youngest in the USA gold medal team. Played a key defensive role for them at center. Hes come back hot from the WJC producing over a PPG. He’s got legit middle 6 2way center potential. Wouldn’t be shocked if he wore a letter for next years USA WJC team7+12=19 points in 22 games. He's having a very good season for a second round pick. It'll probably be some combination of Leonard, Perreault, Smith, Buium, Fortescue, Nelson, and Moore. Leonard and Moore wore "A"'s for the 2005 NTDP team. I think it's a safe bet they'll wear letters. He was the youngest in the USA gold medal team. Played a key defensive role for them at center. Hes come back hot from the WJC producing over a PPG. Schulz is steady and will have a shot at the team. It'll probably be some combination of Leonard, Perreault, Smith, Buium, Fortescue, Nelson, and Moore. Leonard and Moore wore "A"'s for the 2005 NTDP team. I think it's a safe bet they'll wear letters.
C: Leonard
A: Moore
A: Buium/Fortescue
A: Smith/Perreault/Nelson
Zach Schulz could also wear a letter if he makes it next year, but no offense Isles fans I'm hoping he doesn't make it.
