Sounds more dramatic, for one.Why do they have to word it as he's "entering the transfer portal" and not just "transferring teams"?
Technically teams aren’t allowed to contact players until they’re in the portal, hence the wording (obviously that rule doesn’t always get followed)Where to? Why do they have to word it as he's "entering the transfer portal" and not just "transferring teams"?
So entering the portal doesn't technically mean a player is automatically leaving, then?Technically teams aren’t allowed to contact players until they’re in the portal, hence the wording (obviously that rule doesn’t always get followed)
Rumor for Lucius is Arizona State
So entering the portal doesn't technically mean a player is automatically leaving, then?
Also as I recall players transferring have to wait a year to play for a new team in the NCAA, that could be what they mean by "portal", the limbo year.So entering the portal doesn't technically mean a player is automatically leaving, then?
That rule no longer exists, players no longer need to wait a year to play for their new school and can transfer multiple timesAlso as I recall players transferring have to wait a year to play for a new team in the NCAA, that could be what they mean by "portal", the limbo year.
No, that's the old rule, now you can transfer without sitting out. Also as I recall players transferring have to wait a year to play for a new team in the NCAA, that could be what they mean by "portal", the limbo year.
Posted this in the Stramel thread. Applies to Lucius and Whitelaw as well.
And he'd get to play in an NHL arena!ASU is a lot more appealing now than it would have been a year ago for an NHL drafted transfer. He will get a ton of ice-time and play a lot of good opponents. Plus, the other "advantages" that ASU offers to a 20 year old college athlete.
Pretty weird move. Couple pretty good seasons under his belt.
The Portal is crazy. In every sport. Every player is a Free Agent every single season. They're not even trying to force the "one time transfer" rule anymore and will likely drop any pretenses with that even.NCAA has became like a jungle.

How so? Up-and-coming program pumping out plenty of NHL talent and now playing in the premier conference in America. Plus he gets to be a collegiate athlete at ASU.
There’s certainly a lot to draw a talent to Tempe…
Hastings only cares about winning, not about producing NHLers. Which is a fine strategy, and he's good at it, but he's moving in the direction of turning Wisconsin into Minnesota State Mankato instead of turning Wisconsin back into Michigan or North Dakota. We will see how it works.More like he's not gonna be required to play a 200 ft game at ASU like Hastings requires at UW.
