He just signed his ELC.

Not sure I like the decision of turning pro, he did not dominate the NCAA this season.
Agreed. MN will have a talented team next year. He was by no means too good for the competition last year, and what's more, he wasn't physically dominant. The AHL is quite the step up when it comes to physicality.

Leaman said one of his WJC players had a season ending injury and won’t be back for the August tournament. My thinking was that it’s Lucius.

I imagine the family wasn't happy with the Gophers about something related to his injuries. It'll be interesting to see what Cruz does as you'd think he's not go to play for the Gophers, either. Seattle has his WHL rights. I bet they both end up in Portland.

They are way more involved in his career than they should be.

He's going to have to pay his dues in the AHL whether it's next season or later. Might as well start soon. He'll be ready for it.

A bump

scored a goal in his first ever AHL game, then 2 games no points, first assists
and last night is second assist.

a decent start for the 19 year old in the AHL, 1 goal 3 points for 6 games.
- stats wisely

Surprised no discussions on Chaz
I'm not...kid is a good prospect but needs a full-season run of games to generate more discussion. Great to see him be the hero and breakout against Sweden yesterday but his overall WJC was uneven at best and much was expected of him as one of the lead-dog '03's on the team. Clearly he is not in the class of the '04 leaders. His AHL experience thus far looks solid for an '03 playing in that league but again, half the games played at that level as Kulich, Lysell, Rosen and others his age.

Should have been there to begin with.

No idea why Winnipeg thought the AHL was the best place for him after he missed a ton of games over the last two seasons.

Hate seeing promising youngsters rushed to pro hockey.

Another perspective is that the Jets decided to give him a couple months to learn what he needs to do to succeed at the next level, learn our systems, and work with our coaches before sending back to junior to work on his game.

Sort of like what Seattle did with Wright except actually having him regularly play games

Team control. Play him how and where you want. Roslovic left after 1 meh year in college and was great in the AHL. Try it out and then proceed. Nothing wrong with pro experience either.

I agree that no harm has been done. It was fine to try. He's earned some money and seen how it works in the pros. The AHL is a good league but it's not a high pressure environment in the way that the NHL is.

I hope that Lucious and Lambert tear up the WHL.

Jets prospects heading backwards instead of forwards, not good for a team that relies so heavily on draft and develop model. Why didn't he just stay in NCAA?

It's not really backwards.

He didn't stay in NCAA during to a disagreement with how his injury was handled, I believe. He turned pro and got the pro team doctors, they gave him some pro time, he needs to be in junior. If he was drafted out of the CHL instead of NCAA he never would've left there at this age.

This makes more sense then given this context if he left NCAA for that reason, not that Jets & him thought he could hang in the pros.

Liiga -> AHL -> WHL is backwards.

NCAA - > AHL - > WHL is backwards.

Though.

I don't see it as a backwards step in his development though, even if you might be correct about the talent level of those leagues.
