there is no harm in hoping for great things as a croatian hockey fan.
Sure, no harm except for bitter dissapointment. I am following our hockey for very long time and I am good predictor. I can tell you right now that Idžan will find no place at NCAA D1 and that all three Croatian teams will go one Division down this season. Sisak is on it's last legs, we are living end days of hockey in Croatia.

The fact that a player plays in
You mixed me with someone because I never made any post about Serbia and Duimć. Only post ever about our eastern neighbours was wishing Zvezda to join KHL. :)

p.s. regarding your mockery of Poland, judging by your post history you are either Austrian or Slovenian. In case you are latter, I have one interesting data for you. All time meetings between Poland and old Yugoslavia (basically Slovenia) from 1939 to 1991 are 21 games, 2 wins for Yug(Slo), 1 tie, 18 Poland (54:135 GD).

The fact that a player plays in Poland doesn't make him a frightening difference maker on D2A level, even Rendulić wasn't that and he was from KHL. This isn't ridiculing polish hockey, just reality. Using him as an ultimate cheat code was absurd.

Example, Sherbatov didn't make a force out of Israel.

Croatian cynicism is a powerful force believe me I know growing up in Zagreb and Vancouver

It’s residue from communist Yugoslavia that still lingers in the general perception of things

What cynicism ? I gave realistic prognosis based on long time following of cro hockey.

Let's take a look through recent history, through the hockey career of Bruno Idžan:

He started career when there were 2.5 ice rinks in Zagreb. Dom Sportova was primarily used as for EBEL/KHL and figure skating. A few croatian players can practice with EBEL/KHL team, but for most of them croatian leagues is only 16 games they play. Seasons of croatian leagues for youth levels are often started few months before respective World Cups, or sometimes even crazier, during the summer with 4 games or something.

Only positive thing was that one EBYSL season when Team Zagreb (behind name of Medvescak) played well. Every participation in regional competitons was filled with teams giving up games because they could not gather enough players or they didn't have any ice for weeks due to figure skating competitions or ice resurfacer being broken. Hockey in Croatia exists basically to squeeze money out of daddies watching Medvescak, but when it slowly stops being kids entertainment, teams didn't have urge to invest anything.

Idžan by the end of 2010s moves to Slovenia and that's where he saved his career.

What do you think Medvescak will do when this blackout of croatian hockey happens? Simply convert the new hall into a parking lot 1 year after construction? Even in the darkest hours of early 2020s, a dimmed light was still on on Džebolend and if the hockey survived then, it will survive now and if it won't, well, it's not like there ever was much of it anyway.

Now there is an ice hall for a hockey team, every age group has championships and international competitions are played with 3 lines or more. IIHF divisions? They come and go, who cares. Thing is hockey is growing in right now in better state than before. Having cynical opinion is one thing, but saying how croatian news outlets report that sisak bankrupted is a mean straight up lie. Not a single mention of it in more than 48 hours.

Idžan, a young man, product of this croatian hockey that went through all pains is now a PPG player in f*in USHL and was a topscorer in AlpsHL with 18! And you as a croatian fan decide to spend your days thinking how he'll most certainly fall off. Whatever...
To quote Team America at the end:
See, there are three kinds of people: d*s, p*s, and a*s. And all the a*s want is to shit all over everything.

Having a negative outlook long and short term in regards to Croatian hockey and its prospects only manifests negatively

Hungry Frank trumps the goods things going on during the tough times I’m with Hungry Frank here

We know the bad things going on with the program why constantly highlight them and push that to the forefront

Negative Nellieovich

It was on local, not mainstream media. Tomorrow at noon will be an official announcment.

The thing that I don't understand is, Croatia had nothing. Even if you do get relegated at every level you are just to where you have always been. Even if Idzan only becomes Oberliga player you are still up one professional hockey player. Even if Sisak collapses you are back to the number of professional teams you always had.

That's basically playing with house money so where is all this doom and gloom coming from? What is this big delusion of Croatian hockey grandeur that you can possibly lose?

He is a bad player. Can't skate, can't shoot, bad in transition, bad in defence. German Oberliga is his maximum.

I watched his game last night. No show, completely useless on offense, nothing, definition of uselessness. By the end of this season he is demoted in NA3HL.:thumbu:
This is exactly the opposite of what he is bringing on the ice most of the nights. So, you either never saw him playing or you have some personal issues with him.

3 points in 2 games is actually a great start. Really makes you wonder what the hell happened to him last year.
Coach happened. In 22/23 season he had more ice time in U20 as 16/17 old than in "his" U18 team. Last season same coach was promoted to U20 team and he started to marginalize him (again). Funny thing is (or sad in this case) that coach has croatian roots, speaks croatian to some extent and is spending his summers at Adriatic coast.

He finished with zero points last night...:thumbd::thumbd:

p.s. maybe he is bad :dunno:
I will assume there was some kind of glitch in the statistics since I too checked eliteprospects and there was no change but now he has been belatedly credited with 2 assists that night making it 5 points in 3 games.

So maybe he isn't bad :dunno:

But he played for 2 teams and hasn't done anything in either. "The coach", whoever he is, at best explains the half of it.

Well, anyway, Idzan is at 1.66 PPG in the USHL and Sisak is still going so we will delay a complete collapse of Croatian hockey for at least another week

On what local media exactly?
I'm still waiting for that noon announcement.

That was 3 days ago.

Just that should be enough to see what's going on with that user, let alone everything else he writes constantly. dinamo1967 is obviously the same person.

Absolutely terrible numbers for a Croatian in USHL, he might only become a pro hockey player which is in no way a success for a D2 elevator team.

Croatian hockey will collapse any second now. :deadhorse
