Mckegg is really high on Frondell. He has him neck and neck with Misa competing for 2nd oa on his list.

His shot is incredible. Reminds me of Mikko Rantanen on the powerplay. If you draft him, he is a mandatory power-play player. His strength is really something as well. He can already hold his own against heavy men physically. I want to see who lifts more at the combine between him and Aitcheson

Why does it feel like he's been falling in recent rankings? Most have him closer to 10 than 5.

That was a symptom of most people doing 3/4 rankings a year. Early in the season, January, and end of the year. He was hurt and didn't play too well the first part of the year so when people released there mid term rankings, his slid reflected that.

He's been a beast since the middle of January.

It's actually the most recent rankings that I've noticed him being slotted behind others that were not in the top 10 previously.
I'm glad to see him showing he belongs in that 4-8 slot, keeps things interesting.

He will rise back up, the rankings tend to lag behind the on-ice performance.

He’s doing big boy stuff right now. It certainly appears that he is, in fact, the guy a lot of folks had top 3 prior to the season. Just had to shake off injuries and rust.

Now 3rd all-time production rate for a 17 year-old in Allsvenskan behind Nylander and Pastrnak and he’s producing at a rate that may seem him pass both in short order.

This coming from a guy who, in an article I was reading, the head coach was more even impressed with his defensive play and composure in big games.

Honestly, anyone who has ranked Frondell outside of the top-10 at any point this year is pretty suspect. You compare him to what a guy like Dvorsky did in his draft year in Allsvenskan (and who plays a pretty similar style) and Frondell is a stratosphere ahead, and Dvorsky is a top-end prospect in his own right. For me, he's cracked in to the top 4, displacing Martone. Hagens is next.

Most rankings on this site are stat watchers, but there were some people I wouldn't call scouts, more-so amateur draft influencers that were convinced he wasn't a top 10 guy. I don't think there were any actual hockey scouts that had him outside the top 10

McKenzie scout poll had him 5. HP.com had him 4OA above Martone in November. NHL CS did knock him below Eklund tho.

Overall I feel like the real scouts always gave him rope to prove how good he can be and he’s finally delivering in the 2nd half.

14 points in his last 7 games while playing around 13 minutes a night. Has the same amount of points in the last 7 games as Dvorsky had during his entire draft year.

I guess the u18 will determine where he ends up but wouldn’t be too surprised if he’s the second forward of the board after Misa.

He was just outscored at the 5 Nations by two Americans who might not go first round.

I think you’re reaching an awful lot to suggest he’ll go ahead of the best American in the draft.

And most of us do not believe Misa is the best forward in the draft, so I don’t know why you’re speaking as if it’s a battle to see who gets drafted after him, unless the situation is already fixed.

yeah let’s draw big conclusions after he ONLY scored 6 points in 4 games at 5 nations (3 of which against the US) and ignore that he is pacing to have one of the best u18 seasons ever in Hockeyallsvenskan while dealing with injuries for a big part of the season.

I have Hagens ahead but it’s not guaranteed that the older, smaller forward who hasn’t delivered up to expectations this year goes before Frondell.

Yea yea he's in the 5-10 range, if he was a bit more dynamic and faster maybe then he could be in the converseation. As long as he becomes a good NHL player im happy

Lots of similarities (not only how he is built) with Gabriel Landeskog. There are some leadership traits to go with his overall game game as well.

Speed/acceleration is average, but he ranks well above in most other aspects.

His rather low ranking earlier (Nov-Jan rankings) this season, was sort of justified though. We’re talking about a player who had shown no progress in like 7-8 months and been battling injuries and poor form after recovery. Now, I believe he is back on track and playing as well and producing at the level we thought he would this season. I bet not a whole lot of scouts will have him outside the top 10 in March/April.

So probably, 5-10 range for me personally. Really like kids at the top, so I personally don’t see him in the top 3 conversation at this stage. Very happy with how he is performing right now, although for Swede’s sake I guess there’s a risk he will miss the U18 Worlds. Haven’t checked the scheduling that closely though
