Career-high 71 points for Springfield in the AHL but played just two games for the Blues. Veteran of over 200 NHL games between 2017-18 and 2021-22.

Is he worth pursuing as a free agent for an NHL club or is he a career AHL/injury calllup player at this point?

13th/ 14th forward? If he works on his consistency I could see him carve out a Sam Gagner or Tomas Vanek type of late-career role as a PP specialist, racking up a bunch of points while up a man and being sheltered at EV. Good luck if he becomes anything significant.

Blues were lacking NHL forwards, especially ones that could play in top 9, and he got only briefest of looks despite his AHL numbers. Perhaps you could blame it on Blues and not him, but it's not like any other teams thought he was good NHLer when they had a look. He's worth a 2-way with a nice AHL salary, because chances are if he is anything more than an injury fill-in you're NHL roster isn't very good. Ours wasn't and we still had little use for him.

Seems to fit the definition of "too good for the AHL, not good enough for the NHL"

Yep. Pretty much a classic NHL/AHL "tweener".

Doesn't play the sort of game to be effective outside an NHL Top-6 Scoring Role. Doesn't have enough skill to play that role in the NHL.

So he's sort of relegated to being an AHL scoring star. Which is fine...but it just makes him generally not even all that useful as a "call up" because you basically have to plug him into an NHL scoring role...which he's not good enough for, rather than just shuffling someone else up the depth chart and plugging a guy in to a Bottom-6 role.
