Liked all the guys we're talking about here but i thought Vesey had a really good game too, i don't especially love him in the top 6 but he played well tonight
In a cap world you're eventually going to have guys like Vesey in the top-9 and probably top-6. At least Vesey looks like he might belong most of the time.
Having a cheap guy like him, plus youth coming through is crucial

The kids tend to defer to the vets that's why they should keep them together. They play aggressive and with pace when they are together and are often the best line on the ice.

Absolutely agree, I've been 100% on this wave length for a while now. They have skill but can also just play scrappy down low hockey on the boards when needed to, and force the puck towards the goal. I'd much rather them all stay together, which seems like it might the case... knock on wood!

Kids are getting a fair shake, maybe GG is starting to see who is pulling whose weight?

Either way, not sure how you can put Trocheck out on that PP over Chytil and keep a straight face about it.

Awesome win, I have alot of feelings but need to somehow try to sleep. LFG!
If Chytil is a switchsticker how will that impact negotiations?

Laf was flying out there tonight I don’t know what you’re talking about

I expect Braun and Motte both to be back. I think drury wants that familiarity.

And I think he’s moving off Kane. Tarasenko really would be a great move at this point
How the hell do you know what he's thinking? THE TEMPLATE isn't what he's thinking...it's what he better do or else we riot.

I'm telling you fellas when we go into the 3rd up a goal and then the other team comes back to tie and then deflate us with another one to take the lead...that's when the Rangers just give up and feel bad for themselves...it's happened plenty.

then out of nowhere Panarin wakes up and goes game-breaker mode to our best sniper top shelf and Lafreniere scores a big boy PWF goal against 3 people defending...this team is turning a corner and let me tell you...beating out NJD for 2nd in the division is looking probable. Big boy game!!!! I'm loving it.

Probable? Can we bet.

I thought Laf was looking stale pre-break. Drifting and watching the play a lot. Tonight he was buzzing the opposition, created several turn overs, contributed on several scoring chances, and of course score the GWG. I hope the goal gives him the confidence moving into the latter half of the season and into the playoffs. What a great way to start post-break.

The more he keeps his feet moving, the more success he'll come upon.

the laf skating narrative has completely jumped reality

for one...he isnt actually slow. he can actually motor pretty good, does no one see him regularly flying by coverage on rush chances going to the net? skating ability and speed are not the same

laf doesnt have great burst although hes made significant strides there. hes made tremendous strides in his stops/starts, hes gotten far better at pivots and opening himself up while on the move. what i think people are talking aout when they say hes slow is how he skates with the puck, and thats been probably his biggest obstacle. last playoffs, and again recently though, he has been vastly better at this. tonight specifically was probably by far his best game playing fast with the puck. multiple times he carried the puck in the zone, got the middle of the ice, and took some actual quality shots that just missed. hes at his worst with this when hes been with the vets because hes so deferential and is just looking for how to get the puck back to them when he has it. hed lost his confidence at that point but since getting back with the kids hes been better almost every game. bottom line is no, he is not an elite skater and he can improve. however, his skating is far more than adequate at this point and most of the criticism is unwarranted or misattributed. mistakes or misplays often blamed on his skating have much more to do with where his confidence which manifests in how fast he plays. playing fast is the difference, not being fast.

and what on earth am i seeing about his speed on the winner? hank himself commented on his speed impressing coming up ice. lets also not forget he got back defensively to knock down a puck at the net and controlled it so that he could skate into it. yea he slowed down getting into the zone, thats intentional. he was sucking zadorov over to him doing so which allowed an easy cross ice pass. oh and what does he do after making the pass? doesnt wind around the net, he follows the shot and makes a hard stop/start and gets to the rebound first. its ridiculous to take any issue with lafs skating tonight of all nights. and just generally speaking the criticism of it is far too overplayed and used as a blanket criticism when in many cases it has nothing to do with the play being criticised.

…That the NHL app omits all the hitting and fights from its condensed game replays ? Tonite was a game “the likes of which this country has never seen before” yet the NHL refused to show either of Tuba’s demolitions nor Blais’s non-penalty.

This was one of the most intense sporting events I’ve seen in my lifetime, yet the NHL packaged it up as 8 minutes of crocheting.

Totally agree. The speed and physicality of the game brings instantly out that raw emotion especially when you see one of your own go down.
Gotta disagree here. These weren’t paralyzing hits. The guys who got hit got right up. They were just nice hits. I’m fact, Kadri took a big run and jumped dangerously into Trouba early in the game. Miller went after Kadri a bit but then came to his senses. I appreciate sticking up for a teammate but there has to be a line. A good hit is a good hit. If the hit was dangerous or caused an injury, sure, go get some vengeance. But these were not that. Especially the one on lucic. Pushed him over. What a baby. “He touched my sub human shoulderhead!!”

Meh. I don’t really have an issue with the call. The rule is dumb but that’s what it is. I’m sure they’d have called it the same had it been a Ranger. Not too upset by that. Upset by the slew of uncalled obstruction plays by the Kings…erm, Flames.

True. That’s why I watch the full replay - at least skim through it - if I have the time. Can’t get the game’s full flavor at all from the Condensed Games.

I wanted to vote for Kelly Sutherland. That was one of the best officiating I've ever seen in an NHL game.

i have to agree...let the teams play for the most part, just called what needed to be called. crew made efforts to get the calls right, esp the sammy hit.

the too many men was the only call i didnt love, but it wasnt technically wrong and the rangers were idiots to even put themselves in that position. its always a dumb penalty but if someones changing behind the play and you try to get a head start getting back fine. when the pucks in a battle near their blue line and no danger present wtf are you thinking jumping early right on top of the play

The officials got the big calls right. I guess that's the most important part. Could have been way worse.

agree. and more than getting them right it was that they were willing to get them right. couple lengthy reviews and delays but as you said, they were big calls. other than that the game flowed, they werent wasting time on every little thing. for all the abuse these guys get - and most of the time is deserved, granted its a damn tough job - but feel like they should get more appreciation when they do their job well. feel like we all know the refs we dread seeing....looking at you chris lee....but personally cant say i take enough notice of the guys who consistently call a good game.
