I've noticed a few avatars that have me wondering why people chose them, and the meaning behind them. So, I figured it may be cool to have a chat about our avatars to have a break from the doom and gloom that is our beloved Sabres.

Here's mine:
Einstein was notorious for womanizing. Everything in the science world came easy to him, but pimpin' is never easy, and it cost him some peace of mind as he complained about some love crazed women chasing after him, played a hand in ruining his first marriage (though, he wasn't a great husband anyways), and cost him the luxury of a peaceful relationship without the headaches of mistresses.

Not related, but apparently- his second wife was his first cousin, and you guessed it- he messed around on her, too. He believed men weren't wired to monogamous.

So, what's the story behind your avatar?!

Mine isn't complicated, Max was one my favorite Sabres of all time, admired his skating and skill and just loved how he played, he was just so much fun to watch. I remember thinking he was every bit as talented as Pavel Bure (yeah I know it's a dumb take), but the Sabres system held him back. Always felt a little validated when he would be dominant at international tourneys.

The red crossed swords is also my favorite Sabres jersey of all time. I'm a traditionist at heart, so I never liked the color changes, didn't like the goat heads as our primary jerseys, abhorred the slug, and always deferred to the blue and whites. But something about this jersey, I dunno, it was love at first sight. Maybe it's because it's the one logo that appealed to our actual team name and not the name of the city. I'm not a huge jersey snob/collector, but I have an authentic Zhitnik crossed swords jersey that I still wear to this day.

So yeah, Max in the crossed swords jersey.

I went years and years without adding an avatar. Finally decided to do something.....mundane.

Took a picture of a framed Sabres logo made up of small pictures of players faces.

As an aside....I think I've only bought 3 things Sabres related in my life - a hat pin, pendant and LaFontaine poster. So anything else I own, my mom got (on clearance mind you) without me needing or requesting anything.

Professional Wrestling fan - Wrestler to the Left (Samoa Joe) performing a well established schtick move of moving out of the way of his opponent instead of staying in place to catch or get hit by his opponent, while Wrestler on the Right (Jon Cruz) reacts to Joe's reaction in probably the funniest possible way.

I feel Jon signifies how I felt as a fan watching the Sabres making decisions these past 7+ years.

Mine is a graphic from a piece that’s gotta be at least a decade old now about the Sabres rebuild. (The image might be kind of hard to read at the small scale of our avatars, but it’s construction scaffolding and cranes in front of the Sabres logo.) I’ll change it someday when they finally exit the rebuild…in 2037 or so.

Invader Zim: only lasted two season as a Nicktoon due to being alittle mroe subversive and appealing to an older generation than your modern Nicktoon (I discovered it as a college student)

That particular picture is from the netflix movie that came 20 years after it was first cancelled.

I love squirrels and the very famous Jim Mora quote fits this team perfectly.

Mine is a photo from Lewis Hine of the construction of the Empire State Building as a play on "give 'em enough rope and they will hang themselves" in reference to moderation that I use in my subtitle.

A few of Hines other famous images:
