They need to start Laine's unit in the zone at the beginning of a power-play. Need to get that established zone cycle to set up those one-timers.

If anyone cares, here are the Finland vs Sweden Canada/World Cup exhibitions over the years...

1976: Finland 3-2 (Gävle), Sweden 6-1 (Stockholm)
1981: Sweden 6-3 (Hamilton)
1984: Finland 5-3 (Kouvola), Finland 6-3 (Heinola) (Finland didn't play in the tournament itself)
1987: Sweden 6-3 (Turku), Sweden 2-0 (Tempere)
1991: Finland 4-2 (Turku), Sweden 6-3 (Helsinki), Finland 5-2 (Hamilton)
1996: Finland 3-1 (Turku)
2004: Sweden 2-1 OT (Stockholm)

It shows it's early in the season. Teams will need these exhibition games to get going.

It's really really hard to like Komarov, such a troll. I would probably love him if he was playing on my team but man, is he ever doing his best att making everyone else hate him.

More like an exhibition game with very low tempo, but that is fine with me.

Most important not to get injuries before the real thing starts.

You can't draw any conclusions from this game though ...

3 pp's, 0 plays for Laines one timer, pp looking bad.

The thing I still have to hate is that they keep playing Koivu as the #1C, Barkov is our best player.

Still just a tune up.

Harder to set up for the one timer on NA size ice as well.

Laine will eventually figure out the gap control.

My notes on Laine, correct me if I am wrong:

Good driving towards the net from the left early on, pass to Jokipakka that didnt quite land from the right, good support for Barkov / spin move in the middle, good defensive play as lowest man(!!!), good dangle into pass after losing balance.

I got 0 bad palys for him, however my dad said he had a bad pass after the situation barkov passed the puck right to a swede(via a drop pass off the boards) and it ended up with Laine afterwards. However, I need a replay of this as even though I was watching I was surprised by my dad pointing it out and didnt see it as a mistake by Laine. Input here?

Not liking this, finland is dictating the play. Komarov is bullying EK, OEL etc

Actually I like how the game went along, Finland was always going to go full out to start the game in front of the home crowd but didnt really create many quality chances. PK looking real good and actually had the best chance at the very end of the period. I think Sweden will continue to grow in to the game and it will show.

Around 4 times Vatanen shot or used wrister when Laine was open. Maybe he too was the wrong choice.

Vatanen in his yearly pre-season/early season shape. Hope he will shake it off soon.

Did any finn hear if he said what flex Laine said it was because my dad was talking?

It's easy to say, but on NA they can close the gap on Laine so much faster on his PP one timers.

Finland will adjust though.
