Rumor: Everything JT Miller | Elias Pettersson trade Thread

Columbus < -- > Vancouver

Fantilli + (cap dump) < -- > Miller + Lekkerimäki

Obv reliant on Miller waiving. Miller does not get you Fantilli 1:1 and this is coming from a Canucks fan. Even then, Not 100% sure Columbus does this.

------------------------------------------------------------

(Pie in the sky proposal)

NJD <--> Vancouver

J. Hughes < -- > EP 40 + Prospect Sawyer Mynio (D)

In a vacuum Petey is probably the slightly better player, but at 8m Hughes has a much better contract with a higher "floor" . NJD also gets a stealthy good D prospect

--------------------------------------------------------------

Vancouver:
Debrusk - Jack Hughes - Brock Boeser
xxx - Fantilli - Garland

Columbus:
Voronkov - Miller - Markchenko
Lekke - Monahan - Johnson

NJD:
Meir - Hischier - Noesen
Palat - Petey - Bratt
This should be received well by all fan bases!

Colton and Mittelstadt ($9.75m) for Miller ($8m)

Canucks get a 2 and 3C who are both younger than Miller and might align with the Canucks core better.

Colorado gets a high end 2C that fits their immediate window.
Miller is an elite 1C, not a high end 2C.
how many centermen have more points in the NHL than he does over the last five years? not too many...

Jack Hughes has more value than EP straight up in the present moment so the plus is on VAN's side. Im a Canucks fan.

Yea I don’t think there’s anything realistic on Vans end to add that would even make that deal work. Jack is currently playing better, is younger, and considerably cheaper.

Ya, They had a stat in the last canuck broadcast that had Miller having the 11th highest point totals in the league since the trade to Vancouver.

He is an excellent top line player.

Sounds like Boston is really into Miller/Pettersson

Main target needs to be Mcavoy.

Unfortunately this probably means Willander would be going the other way to Boston.

Willander is easily the Canucks best prospect and ironically enough has been compared to Charlie Mcavoy. Bruins probably have gotten alot of looks on Willander as he plays in their backyards at BU.

To Van
Zacha
Mcavoy
2nd rnd pick

to Bos
Miller
Desharnais
Willander
5th rnd pick

Hoglander- Pettersson-Boeser
Debrusk- Zacha- Garland
Joshua- Suter-Sherwood
Sasson-Bleuger-Heinen

Hughes-Hronek
Soucy-Mcavoy
Forbort-Myers
Branstrom

Demko
Lankinen

Canucks can then use their 1st and or Boston's 2nd to improve their forward group and get more scoring in the top 6.

If Miller can turn Boeser into a 40+ Goal scorer then there's no doubt in my mind Pasta becomes a 60goals 100 point guy again. Lindholm would just have to play lockdown C for the 2nd line and their top 6 becomes elite again.

Cap doesnt work with that.

Zacha and Mcavoy is 14.25

Miller and Desharnais is only 10m

You would also need to unload Myers and one of Soucy/Joshua to have space to re-sign Boeser as well.

Can we please just figure out some sort of trade where we get to see the 2011 SCF rematch, game one, opening face off EP40 vs. Miller at the puck drop?

I get what you're saying but the Avs can't trade Girard. He is too valuable to the D now with Byram gone.

Avs and Canucks don't really make great trade partners if they are looking for a top 4 D back.

Fair enough, I think that the top 4 is where the Canucks would look to improve upon if they move one of Miller or Pettersson.

When I say high end 2C I mean that he would be a 1C on a good chunk of teams. With that being said I don’t know if I agree with “elite 1C” although it depends on what you consider to be “elite”. For me I would say top 10 centers would be elite, 10-15 would be the clear cut 1C and then after that you get into high-end 2C low end 1C.

For me I can easily name 10 centers I would prefer over him based on ability today off the top of my head (McD, MacK, Drai, Matthews, Barkov, Eichel, Hughes, Crosby, Point, Petterson) with a bunch of other centers I’d have to think about just based on current performance (Aho, Schief, R. Thomas, Hischier, T. Thompson, Celebirni, Cirelli, Suzuki, Stutzle, Celebrini, Bedard, Larkin) and of those I would probably pick all of them to have in my team over Miller when you take into account age and contract. So he’s floating in that 10-25 range of center and on the lower end for overall value.

That’s not to say he isn’t still incredibly valuable, but based on current performance (which is important at 31) I don’t know that I’d say he’s elite.

Does Mitts+get the conversation going or are we on completely different pages?

New Jersey and CBJ both tell you to kick rocks

If the + is a top 4 two-way LHD (think Sanheim and not Girard) with more value than Mitts then the conversation could get going.

If I’m NJ, I would consider Hamilton for Miller in the off-season, but I suppose they’d be easily outbid when teams have far more flexibility to make a deal.

Right now, I would only offer Meier straight up, which should likely be beat by other teams and doesn’t fill Vancouver’s need of replacing him at center. Not to mention Miller has far more value given his production and position.

I would also assume any theoretical deal from NJ would be vetted through Palat (who played with JT in TB) and Jack/Luke (who I assume would know most of what’s going on between JT/Pettersson).

And Boston wouldn’t do McAvoy 1:1 for Miller in 100 years, never mind add a 2C and a 2nd for a prospect and cap dumps.

I'm sorry what do you mean with that?

If Rantanen goes to FA, the most he can get is 7 years. So if he gets a 14M per year offer for 7 years (98M), the Avs can offer the same amount over 8 years at 12.25 per year. Yes, it’s less per year but if he signs for 7, the year after that contract ends (ie the 8th year) has uncertainty.
