There's a clear difference between being an asshole and giving out some tough love, you don't confuse those once you encounter it. Pettersson is not obligated to take Miller's "tough love" if he doesn't feel like it, zoomer or not. If he doesn't play well - trade him but if somebody crosses the line...I don't know, to me it's an automatic "F you and your condescending coaching, how about that?"listen to the people talking about it. they love miller but think he goes too far with ep.
it's a culture clash. to a pure zoomer it's just bullying and they can't past that. to many people older it is an acceptable form of tough love inter-generational life coaching that has gone on since the beginning of time, and which often yields positive results, but sometimes goes too far.
growing up i think every dressing room i sat in had variations of miller coaching or as teammates and pretty much every job too. some of those individuals made me a better person. some were complete assholes. there is some overlap between those two.
Horvat and EP40 were good...but Miller clashed with both. It's be written before. Just going by what I read a while back whe Horvat was dealt. Regardless, Isles are not a match for Van especially for Miller.Do they not get along? I am a pretty die hard Canucks fan but I never heard that story.
They get along fine.Do they not get along? I am a pretty die hard Canucks fan but I never heard that story.
0 star uber rating for you! You’re lucky Kane isn’t in the West anymore.Have you seen the people Aquilini hires? He’s lucky he could afford me!
Ya i never heard that at the time. Certainly wasn't part of why Horvat was dealt. Team seemed to all get along back then. At least it wasn't a daily news story like it is now.Horvat and EP40 were good...but Miller clashed with both. It's be written before. Just going by what I read a while back whe Horvat was dealt. ok so you think with that said. Horvat would want Miller now on the isles? I think not. Again, plus we don't want him (32 yr at 8M for the next 6 years - not counting this year) for a team that is NOT in win mode now. We are sellers (vets - Nelson, Parms, Lee, Pagaeu, Cizikas, Pelech, Mayfield)....They get along fine.
Horvat was just upset that the organization chose Miller over him.
No thx, zero sense trade Thompson.Petey and Hronek
for
Tage and Power
He and mgmt finally understand we are far from being contenders. Hence we will start selling off Vets such as the ones I mentioned before. It make absolutely no sense bring Miller in here at this point and trading younger players and picksYa i never heard that at the time. Certainly wasn't part of why Horvat was dealt. I think there is potential for a deal simply because the islanders are stuck in mediocrity and Lou knows it. Theyre currently 2nd to last in the east right. How do they get better? Also don't have any real prospects coming.
Rumours out of Calgary, is they’ve asked and the cost is:
Zary + Top 4D (likely Rasmus) + prospect + Pick,
4-5 assets.

Does seem possible given who Lou is though. And Petey surely could make sense for Barzal+. Again you can easily poo poo it but its a plausible team to trade with and there are only like 10.He and mgmt finally understand we are far from being contenders. Buffalo upgrades at Center and gets a cost controlled RD with balances their top 6.No thx, zero sense trade Thompson.
well if you say it that way....anything is plausible. It's plausible, Miller goes to the Rangers for less than what you guys want with is age, contact and he does have say where he can go.Does seem possible given who Lou is though. And Petey surely could make sense for Barzal+. Again you can easily poo poo it but its a plausible team to trade with and there are only like 10.
There's absolutely a difference between those lol. I don't know how a grown man wouldn't differentiate one from another if he isn't slow as hell. Once you talk to people, observe their behaviour with others inside that locker room and on the ice or on team trips - you know damn well what's the intent in their words and actions. I can let it slide from some people and wouldn't take any shit from others and it's not because the former closer to me but because I can feel on a human level there's no malice behind them acting like this. The others though - I either am not totally sure if they want to bully me or indeed am - in both cases I'd definitely push back hard.but you should know that there is zero difference between being an asshole and administering tough love even before you factor in the subjective interpretation of the person receiving it being different from the intent. you're fooling yourself if you think otherwise.
I'm just stating that the Miller/Horvat relationship is fine. Literally just asked a source in our city.ok so you think with that said. Horvat would want Miller now on the isles? I think not. I feel like very few (if any at all) of those types of deals are available. Again, I would much rather keep EP and Miller unless a move is 100% unavoidable.Historically the 3-4 for 1 futures for a star type trades tend to be slam dunk wins for the team's acquiring the star player. Just ask Calgary how the Tkachuk trade has gone for a recent example. And that one almost looked like a slam dunk win for them at the time of the trade.
I understand your idea to move the assets obtained to round out the roster but I think if you make that kind of deal you are throwing away this season simply because you can't make that many changes and expect to be at your best.
If I'm trading Petey it is for top talent. Not spare parts. Miller on the other hand could potentially be had for a strong spare parts style package given his age.
Petey is clear of Tage and Larkin easilywell if you say it that way....anything is plausible. It's plausible, Miller goes to the Rangers for less than what you guys want with is age, contact and he does have say where he can go.
It's plausible if my isles wanted to move either Brazal or Dobson we can get guys like Larkin, or Tage.
Its it realisitc that the isles mortgage any young players and picks for this type of deal. Doubt it.

Dude these are absurdly bad. They make no sense. Why would the Canucks trade Petey for two picks and a limited 4/5 dman? And then trade our first to get Granlund. You are putting a lot of effort into writing these out so I don't want to come across too harsh but these are insultingly bad. You trade Petey for like Barzal, Larkin, Suzuki type of base, and then they add a first and you still probably cant win that trade. Lets alone for some nothing dman.I feel like very few (if any at all) of those types of deals are available. Again, I would much rather keep EP and Miller unless a move is 100% unavoidable.
As for the proposed trades, keep in mind the assets VAN hangs onto in some of those scenarios: the SJS one was specifically meant to make smaller additions and bank assets like the DET 1st, Yager, Perfetti, Danielson, etc... Save them for a more sensible deal later, maybe?
A full rundown of one scenario of the Romanov deal I put in there would look like this:
To DET: EP
To NYI: Danielson
To VAN: DET 1st, W. Wallinder, Romanov, NYI 2nd
And an example of the SJS one would be:
To WPG: EP
To SJS: VAN 1st + Desharnais
To VAN: WPG 1st, Yager, Perfetti, Granlund
Or if you do versions of both the NYI and SJS deals to distribute assets from the EP trade and adjust the positions of need on the roster, it could look something like this:
To DET: EP
To NYI: Danielson
To SJS: VAN 1st + Desharnais
To VAN: Det 1st, NYI 2nd, Romanov, Granlund, W. Wallinder
I won't say these are for sure 100% fair or desirable on all sides, it's just for the sake of discussion
That may be, but the cost would be more patatable for us where we can keep more of our assest and still get an elite type player.Petey is clear of Tage and Larkin easily
In a heartbeat as a Van fan. No way Buffalo does this
