So Cozens, Necas/KK, Zibanajad, Novak, McTavish all C possibilities I could see in a return for either guy.

Trading both could really change the look of that roster in one fell swoop.

The Flyers should be all in on Pettersson. They are loaded with young talent, a stud farm, a couple of key vets that are tradable, and a boatload of high picks. They desperately need an elite-level center to play with Michkov for the foreseeable future.

Something massive like: Pettersson to Flyers for...

Lets figure out values:

First Pettersson?
- Top Young Center Replacement / Or Young D with top end potential
- Good/great Winger/D Prospect
- 1st Rounder

Sound about right?

JT Miller
:

Good/Great young Center or D
Decent Winger
1st Rounder

Thoughts?

Ps - I still feel the best offer i liked was JJ Peterka, Byram and a top 5 protected buffalo 1st.

Seems fair honestly, but no true center in the deal makes it unlikely

I think this sounds reasonable on this forum but not practical in a hard-cap NHL world. Pettersson eats up a ton of cap space which will hurt his value a bit.

Besides, what team is giving up a "top young center or defenseman" for another "top center" with a massive contract, a decline in play (since signing the massive contract), and the unknown factor of how he will gel with the team?

How many top, young C and D truly exist in the NHL that would be traded? We're either looking at "young and unproven" like Fantilli or Yakemchuk or "top and older" like Zibanejad or Matheson.

I don't see a team like Ottawa dealing Stutzle or Detroit dealing Seider for Pettersson.

Imho, the Canucks are going to need to roll the "quantity over quality" dice with a Pettersson trade and hope they land perfect fits who give them the depth they need to elevate to the next level. Knowing Tocchet, he's going to campaign for guys who will go through wall for him or lift their heads when the going gets tough.

These types of trades must be proper hockey trades, they both have high cap hits so you would expect a lot of cap coming back to balance out.

Zibanejad is the obvious player as a starting point if NYR were to be involved, It is a non-starter if the Nucks are not interested which seems likely.

I know NYR want Miller and have tried multiple times to get him back. Petterson was their number 1 draft priority and tried to move up to get him.
