Rumor: Everything JT Miller | Elias Pettersson trade Thread | Part 409

  • Work is still on-going to rebuild the site styling and features. Please report any issues you may experience so we can look into it.
I believe Pettersson's comments were taken out of context but still, I don't think Miller liked it. Pettersson called him a hot head about a year ago. The video was posted in these trade threads last week. I believe it was a year old ish.

Something had to happen lately (that we don't know about) to create all this smoke we have seen lately
No, nothing had to happen. It’s a rabid Canadian market, the team is losing, Miller took a personal leave, EP is enigmatic, and it is known that they aren’t best buddies - but that doesn’t mean it has to be a big deal between them. National media seldom get reporting on the Canucks right - and have been flat out wrong under this management team repeatedly. I’m not saying it’s not possible that there’s internal drama. But I am absolutely saying that creating smoke out of very, very little is a distinct possibility.

I don't think any non-Canucks fans seem to understand that this really has little to do with a locker room "rift". There's just a different standard now with the management fully settled in, and Quinn Hughes as the captain.

JT Miller and Pettersson are terrific players. Nobody really cares how they interact in the room.
But to this point, they haven't won anything. The reality has set in that neither one is a Franchise player - merely very good, elite, all star level players.

Management is just exploring all avenues to make the team better, and it may require moving a major piece to accomplish what Allvin + JR are trying to do.

I'm personally very much opposed to trading JT Miller, and honestly think his contract is great. He's also not wrong for trying to push EP40 to be better. He has his own warts, but we love this guy. Perhaps he's a bit too harsh with it, but how would any of us know that? He seems like a bit of an asshole, sure. But you need guys like this to win in a cruel, physical sport like ours.

Pettersson on the other hand, I'm very open to moving off if the right deal comes along. He's a very good player, with some rare skills in his arsenal. But the point here is - he is not some untouchable player.

All of the offense runs through Quinn Hughes. If you can't read his plays well enough, and learn to cash in on the innumerable chances he creates for you, we will eventually have to find somebody who can. Petey has shown chemistry in the past, but the last 60ish games (including two playoff rounds)... Quinn isn't even looking to pass to him. The play just dies on his stick, especially on the PP. It's not working anymore. It is very easy to imagine a player whose skills better mesh with a QH-lead offense.

The front office knows what they have in Pettersson. There is no rush to move this guy for anything less than the biggest trade package we've seen post-pandemic. But they are open to a massive shakeup if somebody steps up with the right offer.

What’s a realistic deal from the wings look like for Elias?

Simon straight up?

Danielson, burgers, wallinder, picks?

Asp, picks?

What’s the price

I would consider Zacha and Zadorov as the basis of a JT Miller package, but I think there would need to be a protected 1st rounder included.
I would do that deal.

Would you prefer Zadorov, Carlo or Lohrei? Obviously different types of players with different values. Zadorov is a hammer. Carlo an experienced and mobile shut down D. Lohrei is young and raw but a talented offensive D.

We agreed 2 was the limit! Just send Miller to the Pens already and get this over with!
This is just the beginning

*TICK TOCK*

The Flames have taken your playoff spot.

*TICK TOCK*

JT Miller and EP40's value decreases with each underwhelming game.

*TICK TOCK*

The Nucks haters are looking right that last year was a flash in the pan.

*TICK TOCK*

Tocchet is running out of scape goats to motivate his team.

*TICK TOCK*

Time to make a trade Allvin.

Were you sweating when you wrote this?

This is emotional drivel.

Yeah a team with the core that we have, with Willander and Lekkerimaki in the wings, A 26 year old top line center, a 31 year old center who is 11th in scoring aggregate over the last few years, a possible Hart winning defence man, and a returning from injury top 5 goalie (and a good starter as our 'back up') should definitely panic into a dumb trade with 40 games left because we don't have a lot of breathing room in a year where every good player has been out with injury or playing hurt almost the entire year.

Just like your team should have dealt Draisaitl when the team struggled for 2 months last year.

Embarrassing take.

If they make any move for either of Miller or Petterssson, they will want C and D back and pieces they can use now. Canucks want to remain competitive with Hughes's term left so they can extend him.

This is not a trade for a futures based return as prime pieces. We can try but that's not what the Canucks want.

Byram can drive your second pair offense while Cozens gives you a missing center. You can have an extra Krebs.
Aren’t these two players a bit tone deaf defensively? Not too sure Tocchet would want them.
