Blue Jays Discussion: Everyone's hurt, but some are starting to make returns

To be fair Pearson was expected to be ready by this point anyway.

I'm very much not in favor of rushing guys to the majors when we don't even know if the Jays have the horses to fully compete quite yet. Obviously they're close, but they still might need a piece or two to really make noise. Especially with the Yankees seemingly waking up from their month long slumber.

Just have to weather the storm and hope more arms don't end up on the DL

Never really thought of Zach Logue as much of anything. He's off to a great start this year though. No runs against in his first start and 8 K's in 3 innings so far today, though he did give up a homerun.

Wild that they've averaged almost 9 runs per game and lost all of them. Clearly a small sample but their stats page for their pitchers are hilarious. 3 pitchers who've actually been good, 1 who got injured after 1 batter, 2 who've been decent, and then everyone else has been wrecked

wth was with all the OMG he throws 98-100, he has hit 102 omg wow, he has elite nasty stuff

he pitched last year and now this, and has only sat in the 95-97 range and hasn't gone over it much at all

his off speed stuff is weak and unrefined, and his FB is straight too with little movement

All you do is make negative posts against the team, so don't think your stance is all that meaningful.

Also your post is incorrect. Exaggeration words don't make it true.
 
you gotta make sure to catch all pearson starts, come on...and so far in the majors, hes sat in the 97 below and not in the above when throwing strikes

there are pitchers that sit 97, 98, 99, 100 all game long for 100 pitches, thats elite...sitting 96-97 is still very good...but he hasn't even had one inning as a starter where his fastball was 98, 99 all inning long

hes getting a few more starts, i mean look at our starters...but his main weapon is his fastball right now, and he might be more suited in pen for now where he has 1 inning and can release his true stuff without thinking too much about the entire game, and just let it rip for one inning
 
Remember last year when I said there was a non zero chance SWR could end up a better pitcher than Pearson? I definitely still think it's possible.

They changed his delivery a bit - he used to clench up his core before he released his pitches which caused injuries. They now have him more relax in that area in his delivery - that may be affecting his speed a bit. Hopefully he gets used to that delivery and gets back a couple mph.

I wonder if his wild stuff tonight is also related - if his mind is still on his delivery form when he releases the ball.

When Nate pitched against the Rays in the playoffs he had a very good demeanour. Today for whatever reason he didn’t. At times last year I thought the same thing.
 
I kinda agree with what i saw. That "oh shit why am i here?" look on Pearson's face isn't something i want to see out of the guy that's supposed to be my top prospect.

That being said; As i said, Pearson's path through the system hasn't exactly been smooth; Multiple injuries, COVID completely screwing with minor league ball and on top of this having to contend with starts with the big club.

He's got time to figure it out. His stuff is nasty and it's just a matter of hitting the right spots with it. Would like to see him get a couple more starts, preferably against weaker competition.

Pearson had that look today that Brandon Morrow had in his 7th start for the team at Fenway back in 2008. The guy just could not throw strikes that night. He had 6 walks in 1.2 innings that night.
 
Didn't realize until just now the minors are playing 6 game series Tuesday to Sunday with Monday off all season long. I knew Mondays were going to be an off day but for some reason had assumed 3 and 3 rather than a 6 game series
