lou is too old and stupid to do a proper rebuild, you're better off waiting until he moves on to decimate another franchise before you start your fire sale.

doesn't help add youth immediately but a good value stopgap...

bread 11.6+ x 2 retained 5.6+ to 6
Trouba 8 x 2 no retention
Vesey < 1m
total = just under 15

Dobson 4 expiring -> rfa
Romanov 2.5 expiring -> rfa
Nelson 6.0 expiring -> ufa
total = 12.5

dif = a bit under 2.5
Isles have almost 2 in cap space and can dump to get under

why Isles
Trouba is this season + next
after this season he can be dealt
2 yrs bread at just over half is good for LI
get dibs on figuring out if he wants to stay, or will waive
if he waives that is signif rental return esp w/signif retention

the D being given up are younger but require deals sooner
it does wince to lose LD Romanov but it is parallel to a rental

why Rs
using $$ to add young RD
flip Fox to LD
Fox - Dobson
KAM - Scheider
Romanov - Mancini

helps w/D while waiting on cavalry [Fortescue, Emery]
stopgap Nelson while Othmann + Gabe Perreault get ready

moves Vesey so full time Rempe here
What is all this drivel? Do you not know how to type an actual sentence?

Leafs would have interest in all of Dobson, Barzal and Nelson.

I think only Nelson might become available later this year though.

Want all 3? gonna cost McMann, Knies, 2025 1st plus who knows what else. No Marner (and his cuddle squad), Robertson or cap dumps aren’t of interest for the Islanders.

I’d say keep Sorokin and Horvat.

I’d trade Barzal and Dobson (and everyone else) for the right return.
What's the point? Horvat and Sorokin are both 29, by the time any "re-tool" takes shape they will be over the hill, everyone has to go

You need stability in certain positions/roles in order to properly conduct a rebuild.

Look at San Jose as an example of what NOT to do…

I think the salary cap says no unfortunately lol.

I would imagine the cost on Nelson is likely a 1st+ or 2nd++

I think someone will offer more than the Leafs can.

Leafs can likely offer a 2nd, Robertson/Holmberg (choose one) , Hirvonen/Niemela/Tverberg (choose one).

Leafs just don't have a lot of assets, you guys can turn it around though maybe or unload some vets and reload.

Nelson will absolutely return a 1st+ he has averaged 35 goals a year over the past 3 seasons and would immediately upgrade any teams top 6.

Realistically if the isles are out of it by the deadline Nelson, Palmieri, and all the other pending free agents should be moved.

Absolutely, you guys have some good assets that other teams will want.

The assets you’re offering just don’t move the needle though. Starting with a 2nd and adding filler pieces isn’t even comparable to what similar centers have gone for. Elias Lindholm and Bo Horvat deals are what I’m thinking Brock would easily return.

Horvat for Veleno, Buium, 1st
Minnesota doesn’t have Joe Veleno and I’m passing on that for Bo Horvat.
