Everyone just Breathe

And just like that, dreams of our team making it to round 2 blows up in our faces.

We're back to holding breath stage yes?
I think the problem with the fan base right now is the fear that is inside about losing. It’s unbelievable to think how much impact this game will have moving forward. If we win, it erases a lot of the narratives. If we lose, the team will not be in a good position, especially all the questioning and distractions we’re gonna have next year. The Jets are gonna have to come up with some type of game plan because this is huge. The problem is St. Louis has absolutely nothing to lose.

First game 7 at home in Winnipeg NHL history. It is a winner takes all game. Jets fans are hungry for some winning in the post season. There is immense pressure in this context.

Top C is (very likely) out and we haven’t won a game in the post season with him out yet

Our veznia tender is cursed and posting terrible numbers. Possibly by the same voodoo ornament that the blues carry around in their locker room as their mini mascot. Possibly by some other hex in québécois patois that dates back to Habs cultists in the bubble series

Appleton remains in the line up

Schenn and Stanley likely remain in the lineup

Lowry isn’t playing at all like playoff Lowry. Morrissey is not playing like the JM we are used to.

So yes there is some holding of the breath involved

But. Some reasons to believe:

This team including Helle plays much better at home. Helle as long as he keeps it 3 goals or less at home we have a chance on home ice.

KFC is better at home.

Stan and Schenn are better at home.
Apples is better at home.

This series the whiteout crowd had helped the home team and not intimidated (nerves went away game 1)

Gabe and Ehlers are back. Gabes now had a few games to get going and Ehlers looked solid given he started in a playoff game after being out 1 month. Both have another level to get to. Both perform well on home ice.

PP seems to have sparks of life.

Perfetti has been, for my money, the most consistent skill player for us. He is owed another goal by the hockey gods.

Barron has another gear to give and I think he would excel in an elevated role.

Arniel has last change advantage and has shown he is good at playing coaching chess with this

So less reason for hyperventilation

But whatever happens, will happen as it is meant to and like some said before game 5, if we can’t beat the blues tomorrow with the above advantages even with 55 out, then we don’t have any business playing in the second round.

I’m not ready to write this team off.
It’s been far better than the last 3 post seasons.
I think they are growing through adversity and I expect a very strong effort tomorrow.
I bet the guys pull together the first road victory of the playoffs and come back here tied up.

Agreed 100%. So many people around here in constant panic mode. The NHL screwed the Jets over, but we are 1 win away from a tied series coming home. As long as the team holds it together better than it’s HFBoards fans they will be fine.

Agreed, they've shown they can bounce back and I expect they will tomorrow. We can still take this series.

We are down to the best 8 teams in the league. There won't be a single game where we can come out and dominate from gate to gate. Our opponents will get a say

We're also not the only team with uneven performances. Dallas looked like shit in the game we beat them 4-0

I don't think that this is an effort issue... I think that guys are giving what they can on any given day. It's a grind

with the way the league and refs are "managing" these games/ i say f*** it. go cut some f***ing tendons.

see how a slashed Achilles looks on Rantanen. maybe a ruptured spleen for Ottinger, some elbows to the head of Hintz or Seguin.

it's abundantly clear the league wants us to lose.

It appears that way.
I’d settle for a bug causing explosive diarrhea , no permanent harm

Dallas also looked like shit in all 3 of their losses to the Avs in round 1, losing by 3 goals once and 4 goals twice. Each time they bounced back. While in game resilience is required, much more important in a playoff run is game to game resiliency. Can a team bounce back from losses and so far we have been able to do that.
