Everyone just Breathe

Depth was something that the current GM had all season long to try to address, not just the deadline - especially seeing his team was primed for a cup run.

But he tried.

So do Wal Mart greeters.
I agree to an extent. The middle 6 was something I had a bit of concern of as the season progressed although Perfetti got to a hot stretch that tempered some of that, but back to goalless in 10. so you have Ehlers hurt, Perfetti cold, 3rd line shell of their early season selves, and Names can't score. the Jets PP was a big strength during the regular season, but now no calls, and the 5v5 game is more prominent and most of the line up cant do much.

this was a chart of the Jets 5v5 production posted beg of April:

i've always categorized the Jets offense as the big-4, and then the rest. the 4 being CSV and Ehlers. CSV play together on one line so it's focused there & the talent is not spread, and Ehlers carries the load w/ two inconsistent offensive players. now subtract 2/4 (& Holloway on STLs side is out too) which includes one non-CSV player, and the Jets depth is struggling bad so far through 4 games. I know when Vilardi comes back it'll be a boost, but how much will it help the other 3 lines for the ~40 mins the top line ain't out there :dunno:

this TDL kind of sucked though as far as players available.... there's a few that didn't get moved that i think could've added a middle-6 boost ie: donato, palmieri for instance, but it seems like they will be re-signed by their current teams.

Some have already forgotten that we won the first 2 games of this series.
Think the combo of the margin they won and lost have ppl concerned.

First two games they won by +2 (+1 ENG gm1).

Got blown out the last two by 9 combined, no ENGs.

It's not about perceivrd value, it's about actual pure point production. That's why you brought up adding depth

My point was that no team can just lose two 60+ point guys and not be affected because no team in the league has that kind of forward depth

No idea why you're bringing up GMs and value
I gave up on that guy 🤣

Let me answer the question for you.

There are teams with higher levels of talent, more top heavy - if you will. The Jets are not one of those teams, thus depth - or lack of thereof should be more important.

You’re incorrect that every team’s secondary scoring would be as obliterated as the Jets has been if there were to lose two players. The Jets left themselves zero room for error, and I need you to only look at when Namestnikov scored his last goal to solidify my point.

You’re simply avoiding a conclusion you know is coming.
Out of Florida, Dallas and Winnipeg... guess who had the most guys who scored 10 or more goals this season? In other words, guess who had the best depth scoring?

Clue: that team is only one of two teams who had 12 guys score 10 or more goals this season in the entire league

Sorry to ruin your narrative with actual facts

Do you mean to tell me that Dallas, and Florida would trade their depth for that of the Jets?

I understand you are leaning toward protecting the way this team has been assembled, but this is nearing blind homerism.

Take the car flag down, they are a good team sure - but clear flaws can be identified. Especially after they were butchered for two games.

I always chuckle when we have to turn personal to continue a conversation. How you know the strands are starting to fall apart.

Let’s not lose too much faith boys, stay on target. Not that hard. :sarcasm:

Just to be clear, didn't this all start when you said that the Jets don't have enough depth scoring?

Then when I point out that the Jets had the best depth scoring in the entire goddamn league, you responded with some weird concept of making trades?

What exactly IS your point? I'm starting to think that you don't really have one

I've been on target 100% of the time. You're the one bouncing around it

Did you even know that the Jets had the most 10 goal scorers in the league when you made your initial comment? Isn't there just a tiny little part of you that wants to act like an adult and say "i wasn't aware of that, and it turns out I was wrong"?

The point is the same one that was made not too long ago.

The Jets secondary depth has been invisible in this series, on the score sheet - and in terms of actual positives to their play.

For a full season where it was clear the team had another chance during their contention window to make some noise, they failed to creatively upgrade a key weakness.

If you’d like to rest on two injuries, so be it.

My frustration lies with a contention window that is limited, yet the team is sent into the playoffs far too willingly without addressing it.

There is being a fan, which we all hope they win this series - and there is cheerleading. I hope they win here, but if they are to lose - some heads need to roll. For one damn time.

I have zero issues stating when I am incorrect. If the secondary depth comes through in game 5, and 6 (possibly 7) - I will happily eat crow.

I just don’t view them as highly. I view it as a flaw that was unaddressed.

You are including Namestnikov, Appleton, and Nino in your stat lines I assume correct? That doesn’t send the message you think it does.

6th - 10th on scoring on those teams:

Florida:
Lundell
Ekblad
Rodrigues
Samoskevich
Fosling

Dallas:
Harley
Benn
Marchment
Dadonov
Lindell

Jets:
Perfetti
Pionk
Namestnikov
Neidereitrer
Lowry

You'd take the Dallas and Florida depth over ours? I wouldn't

Saying that our depth scoring isn't doing it's job is different than saying that we don't have depth scoring. That's like saying we need another Vezina caliber goalie lol

Not having Ehlers (who drives the 2nd line) is going to have a huge impact. Then taking Nino off Lowrys line impacts that one

Having another 10 goal scorer wouldn't have helped much

We all know how this is going to play out. If Helle plays well, the team responds with a good effort. If Helle plays like his usual playoff self, it completely deflates the team and we lose all our mojo.

That's the only way this goes.

Yeah, unfortunately, the byproduct of having an elite goalie all these years is the guys can't seem to handle a subpar performance by the tendy.

We will see if sir Helle can put his money where his mouth is

Just breathe...

This is priceless...

The definition of fans is taken from the word Fanatic...

Fanatic
1. a person filled with excessive and single-minded zeal, especially for an extreme religious or political cause:
"religious fanatics" "activist fanatics" "left wing fanatics" "HFJets fanatics"

So ya... like HFJets is ever going to be cool and be able to reason it out civilly... Har...

To be fair @Buffdog you have spent the last 2 days debating the Jets with a Flyers fan. The point is to agitate.
