Everyone just Breathe

Im one of the biggest Helly supporter here

But he needs to be pissed and angry about losing this much.. and the way how the team is losing. Not even close games..

He is very assure of his capabilities but it cant be just being confident… He needs to fight through everything how the Blues is disrupting him.

Some emotion is oK… gets your adrenaline going..

I am seeing the same confidence he has the last few years when things are like this.

This is not the regular season , two bad games turns the series around.

He is a goalie he needs to show some emotions 😅

this is the playoffs

LETS GO HELLY

YOU ARE THE MVP, the team will go as far as you go….

SORRY the Jets earned respect in the reg season by being resilient, determined and capable....

getting blown out and looking like kids among men in back to back playoff games ,. having ZERO ability to even look at all competitive...or capable....

has spent whatever capital and confidence they had earned with me is gone...

blown out 12-3 with nothing in terms of pushback?

sorry nope. not riding this merry go round again.

Well 2.0 history would say you are probably right with this core. Even in our much vaunted 2017-18 season we lost the last four in a row to Vegas.

HOWEVER we have a few things going for us none of which are tangible but hang with me.

I was unable to watch either of the last two games due to Volleyball provincials and exhibition warm up so my confidence is less shattered than yours. I did see the highlights on the NHL site and it wasn’t pretty.

The three Vezina finalists are all in the .880’s this post season so far and collectively they are too good to have it end this way……..aren’t they……aren’t they?

We have never lost the last 4 in a row after being up 2-0 :sarcasm:

I will be in attendance and I have a 6-1 record during live playoff games in the 2.0 era despite the place having an identity crisis (MTS, Bell MTS, Canada Life) and our team having an allergy to White Outs in the playoffs. (6-1 is next to impossible considering I think we have only won 7 at home in the 2.0 era)

Am I a fragile Frankie right now…………yup…………..will Arnie be the first coach in 2.0 history to FINALLY STOP THE SLIDE IN ANY PLAYOFF SERIES FOR GOD SAKE………….”Oh you betcha, Yea” Margie, and that will happen with me in attendance Wednesday night.

Lastly, sooner or later a team can’t lose 4 in a row to end every series, it’s just too hard to pull off this many times. :banghead:

I rest my case your honor. :dunce::laugh:

ps241, mate, bud, bro, my brother in Christ, isn't it clear? Why haven't you been attending every game? This clearly all hangs on you being there in person.

And St.louis is missing their third highest scoring forward.
The Blues are scoring by committee- 12 different goal scorers vs 7 from the Jets

Sorry but the proof is in the pudding based on the Jets last 10 losses in the playoffs.
First, once the loss they cannot stop the bleeding lost 4 straight (after a win in each series) to Vegas and Col and in the 10 losses they have allowed 53 goals. Please let that sink in.
It is not fluke when it happens 3 years in a row.

I know they are coming home for game 5 but not even the most positive of players or confident of coaches must be feeling uneasy.

I hope I am wrong but this is all too familiar and they have not changed the core that were all party to the last 2 collapses.

I dislike the Oilers but they played at such a frenetic pace the last two games to come from behind to win whereas the Jets give up 2 goals in a period and the coach says the game was lost.

There is a gigantic disconnect between this team in the regular season vs the playoffs.
It's funny i seem to remember we won the first 2 games of this series so it's already different from the 2 previous seasons where we only won 1 game. Even if we win game 5 some will still say we are going to lose the series, it's what they do.

It’s not that they’ve lost 2 in a row that has drawn ire from fans with pitchforks out . It’s HOW THEY LOST 2 in a row.

After winning game 1, Colorado lost 2 overtime games, but those were games they could have won because they remained in the battle. Why do the Jets collapse so easily? That’s what is driving the diehard fans over the cliff. Enough is enough already.
Colorado got hoofed 6-2 last night.

Yeah bro is too cool for school, says you don't wanna play with fear. Sure, but a little anger would be nice!

They should be happy to win BUT they should hate to lose... The BEST of the BEST don't like to lose.... it eats them up.. So winning becomes the only option.

I thought the whole team, i think it was mentioned by Arniel , what's on their chalkboard is the Avalanche series last year... Their goal is to go far.

The whole team is disarray.. Two more chances still to come through...

Still believe in the JETS

GO JETS GO

Arniel in the presser was all "Just look around the league, everyone's tied". That response is objectively true enough but also softer than a baby's bum.

We aren’t playing absolutely bad , we are simply being out scorci’d
There were times in game 4 I thought we absolutely dominated but we didn’t get the puck in the net.
A story as old as hockey itself, you outplay your opponent and they score to break your back.
I think we come out flying on Wednesday
( We literally have to be on 4th gear all game and take away THEIR time and space.

Yeah I too wasn't happy with some of his responses but you could tell he wasn't happy and I can pretty much guarantee the boys got chewed out (or at least I hope they did)

He knows they crumbled under the pressure, even a blind man could see that, we just now need to see how they respond, my only worry is that this was the second game in a row where they simply gave up and clearly didn't respond well.

It's a concern for sure, it's a tale as old as time at this point for this team, can they finally break free of it and come back to win, I hope so but I also won't be holding my breathe.

Agreed on the comment. Not every team is built like the Jets... Vezina goalie,/Jennings team, Norris caliber dman, two top 10 goal scorers and a likely Jack Adams finalist.

Not to mention the disparity bw Winnipeg and St louis is 20 standing pts, highest in the West and tied with Washington vs MTL in the East.

Having said that it's 2-2. Home team has won every game and WPG does have home ice advantage.

The Jets made a costly mistake by failing to take advantage of the rules that apply to every NHL team.

Specifically, allowing approximately US$6 million worth of salary cap space to inexplicably gather dust as the trade deadline came and went last month. That’s a huge potential weapon left in the holster, one we’d now suggest is shooting them in the foot with every passing game. Consider this: Winnipeg iced a 20-man lineup on Sunday afternoon that was nearly US$15 million below the regular-season salary cap of US$88.5 million, which doesn’t exactly scream going “all in” for a team fresh off winning the Presidents’ Trophy. A cap, we remind you, which disappears for the playoffs and allows teams to go over as much as they like.

What happened shortly after the deadline passed has really made this a tough pill to swallow with nearly US$10 million worth of players going down with injury. It’s exactly why general managers of very good hockey teams will usually empty the bank account. You can never have enough insurance this time of year, especially if you’re planning on a two-month march to the Stanley Cup.

What would have had Chevy do?

Anyone with term was off the table since he has so many guys to sign in the next two summers. He'll need that cap space to keep them all and remain "competitive"

Don't disagree, but it is a choice all teams have to make. Go all in now because you think you can win now, at the potential cost of the future OR play it safe for the future at the cost of maybe not winning now... Not saying what's the right choice...

But I do agree with the article in that if you want to win the Cup, you need extra bodies that you can call on as players get hurt or whatever happens. The Cup isn't necessarily won by the best team, but the healthiest team.

It depends what was really out there for him. If there weren't top 6 players available term or no then why bother wasting cap space on bottom 6/3 type of talent. That wouldn't move the needle one bit.

He did try for a top 6 center and they elected to go elsewhere. Can't add players that won't waive to come here or aren't available.

The issue is their play.
They are a shell of their regular season selves.
They won game 1 vs Col but really should not have because all their bad habits were exposed. This started again in St. Louis.

Serious question, without Ehler' s to balance the 2nd line and the teams defence crumbling how do you see them righting the ship or who do you see helping to do so?

I think Chevy did the right thing at the deadline once Nelson was off the table.
He did not really mess with team chemistry like last season and the team continued its winning ways without Vilardi for the last few weeks. They have simply come up against a team that is playing its system perfectly whereas the Jets are not. Furthermore, this edition of the Jets does not do well vs a heavy forecheck. Their breakout vs St.Louis's looks amateurish as in they cannot break out but St. Louis does it with ease.

This is certainly not on Chevy unless he passed on a top 6 forward that we are not aware of who was willing to come here. He does not play the games or implement the strategy but showed faith in the players by not making significant changes.

Wednesday night cannot come soon enough.

They aren't the only good team that has shat the bed in a couple of games in round 1. Dallas is on the verge of advancing even though there two losses to Colorado were equally as lopsided as ours were to the Blues. Vegas had b2b ugly losses to Minny before righting the ship to even their series.

Like every other team that losses ugly they can regroup and win.

Not getting or having a productive 2nd line and 2C could derail this year's SC run, but it wasn't for a lack of trying. There weren't many quality C's available, and they made their pitch for Nelson but the Avs gave up Ritchie in the Nelson deal which is crazy if he's a rental.

On a supposedly high powered Avs 2nd line, Nelson has 2 assists this playoff, that's it. One was the primary assist for Landeskog's beauty. If he has two assists in a Jets jersey that would have made no difference in the games in St. Louis.

Jets 2nd line:
Nino - zip/Names - zip/Fetts - 2 apples

Jets 3rd line:
Tanev - zip /Lowry - 1g /Apples - 2a

Ouch.

For fun:

St. Louis 2nd line:
Neighbours - 1g 4a /Schenn - 1g 1a /Kyrou - 2g

Colorado 2nd line:
Landeskog - 1g 1a /Nelson - 2 a/Nichushkin - 1g

Dallas 2nd line:
Marchment - 1g 2a /Duchene - 1a/Seguin - 2g 1a

Given Cole's emergence as a legit NHL player, why can't we try that again? If everyone was healthy:

I am sure I have the wings all messed up, but:

KC - Scheifele - Vilardi
Iafallo - Perfetti - Ehlers
Nino - Lowry - Tanev
JAD - Names - Kupari/Gus

Appleton - punted into space

And there's the rub

To get Nelson (assuming he was even willing to waive for us), Chevy would have had to put at least Yager or Salo on the table

If he comes here and bombs and we're eliminated in the first round (like Colorado may be), Chevy is crucified for giving up an excellent prospect for a dud

But if he doesn't make the trade, he's still criticized

Personally, I'm OK with not making that trade. Hopefully we can string a couple of wins together and maybe Nik gets healthy and we have a decent 2nd line. As it is now, Arniel should be dropping iafallo to play with Fetts and Names.. maybe that's enough in and of itself to get some production going there
