Everyone just Breathe

Why assume?

Maybe because of my experience watching the story play out every Jets season, and personally watching every single playoff game in Jets 1.0 and 2.0 history since 1982.
But didn't you start a thread about how Winnipeg doesn't get any respect ? If us Jets fans don't then how do you expect people from Toronto to ? Don't give up until the final whistle blows.:thumbu:

Of course I do not know how this series will end, but what I do know is if the Jets get ousted in round one, there will a long and loud echo effect looming over this team.

That said, and what provides me some hope, is one of the key elements Arniel has instilled is that of proper mindset. From the nuances of details and structure, to dividing the regular season into three parts, to focusing singularly on each game and not looking ahead, and to understanding personal and team adversity and how to manage that. On that last part there would be an argument that the team did not experience a significant crisis of adversity in the regular season so therefore it is relatively uncharted. I see it differently in that the consistency in the regular season is a by-product of proper mindset and never letting it unravel too much.

So when we throw around that this is now a best of three series I honestly believe this is where this team will show up. I think we take the next two games. These lads are not currently sitting around soul searching and panicking, they are regrouping, focusing on the priorities and details, and trusting what worked the entire season.

I think the vast majority of Jet fans here want the team to succeed and are still supporting and pulling for them them as much as they can.

But I can completely understand a lot of them being disheartened at this point, based on recent playoff experiences.

For me the Jets are a mentally fragile team that are easily distracted from their game at the slightest bit of adversity and have little to no push back when that happens. Until they can come out, play their game and change that narrative, they deserve all the doubt and criticism they receive from their fans.

I guess that's just a way of coping with the disappointment.

Sounds like a lot of the fanbase, TBH

Statistically Helleybuyck has been worse in the past few the playoffs than Stuart Skinner. Results aren’t any different except Skinner made it to the Stanley Cup Final.

Let that sink in.
Well Skinner gets benched which Helly has never not started a playoff game while he has been the #1 guy

I have read so many pages of comments over the last few days that have pretty much sealed the Jets fate; to the point that I have never seen a fanbase of a team that is either up 2-1 or tied 2-2 in a series, in which they have home ice advantage, write their team off as confidently as Winnipeg fans have.

I fully recognize that these last 2 games have yielded terrible results, and that the momentum has shifted significantly over to the Blues, but even with that said the Jets still have a really good chance (the favourites) to come out of this series on top.

As much as everyone can point to how terrible we’ve been on the road in Games 3 & 4, I don’t see how these same people can say with such confidence that it’s a forgone conclusion that St Louis will come into Winnipeg and win?!

St Louis had 2 (maybe you can give them a third) solid periods in Winnipeg; both first periods. That’s it! Yes, the final scores have been closer in games 1 & 2 then they have been in 3 & 4, but if you actually breakdown the stats, Winnipeg has dominated the second half of both of those games. When it was time to close each one out, the Blues had a total of 7 shots in both 3rd periods combined.

This series has clearly favoured the home teams, and we have 2 out of 3 in Winnipeg!

I am not looking to convince anyone that it’s anywhere close to a lock that we’re going to win, but the negativity and utter certainty that we have already “lost” this series is just as crazy.

Can we still lose, sure. Can we still win, absolutely; but this board has rode with the Jets all season long. Through the doubts at the start of the year that we’re even a playoff team, to the surprise to almost all that we finished with the best record in the NHL, and everything in between.

Most of us have cheered and believed in this team, through so much worst then a 2-2 series in which we still have the home ice advantage.

I strongly encourage everyone to take a breath…. this series is far from over!
I’m trying to find positives but I just can’t find anything. I wish there were some it just seems like St. Louis is better than us in every single category and it just feels like we’re destined to lose four in a row for the fourth straight time.

Exactly, why should we believe when they don't give us a single reason to do so, they have done this to us many times over the past years, it's not our first rodeo, as soon as things get tough in the post season they wilt and break under the pressure and never recover.

They can only break your heart so many times before you lose faith completely in them at this time of year, As soon as they went down by two in this last game I saw the life drain from them, all the fight was gone, it was all so familiar.
Nobody was talking about the blues pretty much for the majority of the season and now they are on the verge of wiping us out for in pretty easy form. The thing that gives me fear is if we lose four in a row once again and get knocked out, they’re just are no more answers. This core is here to stay. It’s gonna be a long year.

It's crazy to watch all the other games when the teams are getting the big saves from their goalies. I feel like every single shot can go In. The jets looks super nervous and Helle looks, unfortunately like he seems to be in the playoffs. At this point, it's impossible it's not just in his head. He's obviously fully capable of taking the team on his back BUT it's the whole team that sucks. They are not doing anything that made them successful during the season. All these teams turn it up a notch during the playoffs and in the last 2 games, we took it to the basement. Unfortunately, that lands on Helle. Does anything think they don't see and think the exact same things we do? He lets in a few crappers and it's "ohhhhh no, here we go again" the team deflates and the blues capitalize. We have literally just crumbled at every single point. No jets players are coming out on fire, they are flat footed and lethargic for some reason.

Watching the other games, there's guys on every team that are buzzin and making plays etc. we don't have anyone that's stepped up like that.

Kyle Connor is leading the playoffs in game winning goals…..

Why are you all posting about how cooked we are when you should be out there getting your easy money fading a team that's "somehow"(?!) still the statistical and betting-odds favourite to win the series?

2/3 home games is massive. Besides home ice in general being about 5% extra (as best I recall), of the way we're losing the series, one of them (our bottom pair getting pressed) is a lot harder to have happen to you at home. The other way will happen when the horseshoes fall out of the asses of the St. Louis blues shooters. Shots are going in off of Neil Pionk's ass -- while a true paragon of the chaos that the Pionky Tonk Man brings to the ice, I mean, come on now. Scrambles on PKs that end on penalties that have no business being called?

We played a far better game in game four, and carried the play for the majority of it. Shit happens. And as commentators might say, "shit happens in bunches".

Right now, the whole "we can't win in St. Louis" thing shouldn't be ahead of St. Louis being unable to win in Winnipeg. 2-0 to start the series there? Drubbed them what, 5-0 to end their streak before that?

Better team in a best 2-of-3 where home ice has been huge and we have home ice advantage.

I mean, you all want off the bandwagon, that's fine. And while I understand that quoting this line might be ironic given how the movie ended, it's really too perfect:

Evacuate? In our moment of triumph? I think you over-estimate their chances!

Let's at least wait until we are losers this year before we call ourselves losers this year.

And until then? Deep breath. The Universe is unfolding exactly as it means to.

Valid criticism very much so has a place, for a team that seems to operate in the front office level - as that of a country club.

Arniel has a chance to prove his quality, because he's been butchered the last two games. Shocking of course, as dumpster diving for coaches due to prior relationships is never an issue.

Hoping for a win, but we've seen this song - and dance before.

Address those forward combinations, and put somebody actually worth a damn up to play with Perfetti.

This is where we can't also pretend missing two top six forwards hasn't hurt some. I'm inclined to think "nah they really just don't want to win" is less a factor than "no Vilardi no Ehlers" -- thankfully we are nearly certain to rectify half that problem by Wednesday.

Relax Jets odds look good.

It was extremely questionable to put faith on Ehlers staying healthy.

If the strategy was to be so dependent on him to be the driving cog in secondary scoring - well… the evidence is on display of how foolish that was.

Vilardi has been a loss for sure.

ya as of right now the evidence is once again that we should have recouped guaranteed assets instead of rolling the dice on a pending ufa. injury or not, imagine we had a serviceable winger for this season and going into the future. There's a few minute fomo errors that could have made an insane difference. Let Vegas take Enstrom instead of Thorburn and you have Nick Suzuki right now. Don't trade a 1st for Kevin Hayes and who knows. Of course hindsight.

I really do hope they win the series.

Faults, and my own reservations against ownership/management be damned…

I want this series. Helle is going to likely have to steal a game, think he can do it if they find a way to trap St Louis.

Need to slow them down in the neutral zone.

We are missing 51 goals from our lineup. We only have had 3 top 6 players in the lineup our first 4 games.

Getting Vilardi back is huge and gives us 4 top 6 players and also gives us the means to spread our top 6 talent out a bit more.

I'd like to see him with Perfetti as we need a triggerman on that line.

Skinner made it because of the 2 headed monster known as McDraisital
They willed the team too 2 victories in Edmonton that no Jets are capable of doing in a similar fashion. It is either all hands on deck for the Jets as in team defence or get blown out.
