A case can be made for a trade, and for keeping him.............it's a tough call.I hear you. And I don't fully disagree with you. However, the arguments I'll make is that you know what you have in Evans. He fits well into your line-up already, so you have that answer. He's someone who can move up in case of injuries. He's great on the dot. He's elite on the PK.
I'll also add that I think next year, he will be the 3C (replacing Dvorak who will either be traded or just let walk). And I believe Beck or Kapanen will be the 4C. Of course down the road, those guys will move ahead of Evans.
Also, with the cap going up significantly over the next few years, some of the top 4th liners will start making that kind of money. And I think Evans is one of those top 4th liners.
I would think that if he doesn't return what the boys want for him, they could keep him, and use that as ammo to get him down a bit.
It certainly looks like a trade real soon.............someone will overpay for him.
